Have a Yard Sale
Chances are that there is a lot of junk that it is in your attic that you have not even touched in years. Old Christmas lights that no one uses anymore? What about some old baby’s clothes? Well, if this is the case, why not make some money off of your old junk? Have a yard sale. Chances are that there are a lot of people who may be interested in some of your old stuff. So, what is the main key to having your yard sale? Once it is over, do not put any of your junk back into the attic. Just put everything that you do not sell into the trash. Most likely you are holding onto things that you will never use again.
Use Plastic Bins
The stuff that you do wish to keep in your attic needs to be separated, in order to be kept more organized. One way is to sort through it and organize it into plastic bins. Once you have put everything that you need into your bins, all that you need to do is stack them on top of one another. Instead of all your clutter being strewn across the floor, you will be able to keep everything organized and still have space. It’s a good idea to label the bins in order to remember exactly what they contain.
Do Not Give Up
One of the main reasons that people seem to never get their attics organized is due to the simple fact that they do not give themselves the right amount of time that they need. Organizing your attic is something that is going to take time- and by time, we are not just talking about an hour or so. Time means a rainy, boring Sunday. If you don’t give yourself enough time, you are going to look at the task as hopeless, and eventually you are going to want to give up. This is definitely not something that you want.
Know When to Do Your Cleaning
One of the main things that you need to do when you organize your attic is give your attic a good cleaning. Whether you decide to simply dust or spray the surfaces with Lysol, this something that needs to get done. So, when is the best time to clean your attic? Well, there are two great times that you can clean your attic. For starters, you can clean it just as you begin to do your spring cleaning. If you plan on having a yard sale, when everything is out of the attic would also be a great time. If this does not work, you can wait until you are completely done organizing your attic. Should you decide to go with this scenario, make sure that you dust and spray in all those hard to reach spaces which may end up being covered by plastic bins.
Organize Often
One of the main keys to getting an organize attic is keeping up to date with it. Whether you do it every month, every three months, or every six months- you should set a time in which you will consistently organize your attic. This will make it so that this is not something that you give up on over time. If it becomes something that you give up on, chances are that your attic will become unorganized in no time.
