Spring Cleaning: Get Ready to Clean!
1) Goals
Before the weekend or day that a person has planned to start their spring-cleaning, people should sit down and write out the list of the main goals that they want to accomplish in their homes. These goals should include; started projects to finish, rooms to focus on, and organization or just cleaning.
2) Room by Room
Take the time to write up a list of specific chores that need to be done in each room. This will help organize your efforts and will be a motivator, because when each small task is completed, being able to mark tasks off when they are completed will help keep the cleaners motivated. Additionally, by having a list of specific projects it will make the project go more quickly because by being focused on specific tasks, people will not get distracted doing additional tasks.
3) Divide and Conquer
Divide the rooms among all the people in the house. Assignment of rooms can be done in a couple ways. One way is to actually assign certain rooms to certain people. Another way is to cut the list of rooms apart and have each person draw rooms out of a hat, this will probably result in the best attitude of your help, because their will be less resentment about who gets assigned which rooms.
4) Schedule
Plan to take a couple of days to complete all of the cleaning and organizing tasks that you have planned. It is not necessary to complete all of the projects in one day or even in one weekend, as long as you have a schedule laid out of what you want to get accomplished it can all be done over a couple of weeks.
5) Clear the Clutter
Getting rid of clutter and getting organized are common goals and themes of spring-cleaning projects. Do not avoid throwing away items that you have not used in a long time or donating clothes that do not fit. By getting rid of excess items, clutter will be limited and it will be easy to maintain organization and cleanliness of the house.
