Streamline the Big Day With a Las Vegas Wedding at the MGM Grand

Las Vegas Wedding. The phrase inspires thoughts of the cheap and tawdry. Many people insist that the very idea of having a wedding in Las Vegas is an affront to the long-established and respected institution of marriage. However, nothing could be further from the truth.

I attended a very elegant wedding at the MGM Grand while serving as maid of honor for my sister’s wedding. The MGM Grand is just one of the hotel/casinos that provides destination weddings in Las Vegas. Most of the major hotels on the famous strip offer wedding packages that take place in beautiful chapels presided over actual priests. The MGM Grand’s package, in particular, is a unification of economy and elegance, as well as one of convenience. The MGM Grand offers wide amenities for a couple ready to wed. A helpful staff provides a nice ceremony–without the hassles or costs surrounding a traditional wedding.

The MGM Grand’s wedding package offers everything a bride-to-be needs for her day, right down to hair and makeup. A spa package for the bride allows her to receive the utmost care in manicures and pedicures, as well as the option of a relaxing massage. Different prices are attached to different treatments, and so it is possible to choose the cost of your wedding from among a list of reasonably priced packages. Real flowers form the bridal bouquet, and heavenly music, chosen by the bride, fills the air as she enters an elegantly appointed chapel. The scene is what any bride could hope for on her wedding day.

Staff members lend their aid every step of the way, even providing a limosuine to convey the pair to the courthouse (which is open late into the night) for the marriage license. A wedding planner meets with everyone concerned half an hour before the ceremony, and honors requests for special vows. The planner choreographs the entrance into the chapel, and the minister directs the ceremony itself. Of course, even a perfectly planned ceremony can go awry. My father stepped on my sister’s train on his way back to his seat after giving her hand to her husband.

Throughout the wedding, the photographer snaps pictures and sets up studio shots after the nuptials. Video cameras at three angles shoot film used to create a tasteful wedding video (the inclusion of fathers tripping over their feet optional, of course). Everything is professionally handled, and in a classy manner. The option of reserving a buffet for guests is also provided (thought not included in the wedding package). Plus, the hotel offers a free suite for the night of the wedding, so that the happy couple can enjoy a luxurious wedding night before heading off on a honeymoon.

For everyone involved, the day was virtually stress-free. Our family didn’t need to do anything except show up properly dressed (and that was easy, considering we didn’t even have to worry about hair and makeup). The entire package is reasonably priced, and the amenities and friendly staff make the MGM Grand an affordable wedding. Destination: Las Vegas.
