Sublime Memories

Sublime Memories

Kneeling on a huge granite rock
Above swirling bright water.
Fingers passing through its sparkling reflections,
Raising the filled cup of my hands to my lips
And drinking the water of life as it splashes tunefully
Back into the stream.

Alone in a temperate rain forest of Alder, Maple, Cedar, Cypress, Douglas Fir and such sweet, deep, green moss,
Bliss to bare feet in summer!
Shafts of sunlight on the forest floor,
The air singing and smelling most Holy after the rain.

Eyelash Bliss at the kisses of softly falling snowflakes
And their melting acquiescence upon my tongue.
Dark hair bright with starlight in the cold night air.

The playfulness of snow.

The heady deliciousness of being understood.

All these held softly in memory’s lap
For a lifetime’s appreciation.
