Superman Returns: A New Spin on an Old Classic Starring Kevin Spacey and Brandon Routh
First of all, Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor was absolutely magnificent! Brandon Routh has defiantly jumped onto the entertainment scene in a single bound. These two amazing performances are bound to attract some attention by award organizations everywhere.
The movie starts off with a brilliant display of creativity as it explains why and where Superman had leftonly to return to Metropolis to once again fulfill his destiny to save the day.
Upon his return, he finds he missed two opportunities that would have made a profound impact in his life. One being a horrendous mistake and the other being a life altering blessing.
The graphics were amazing, and cross more than a few boundaries in a positive way. The action was intense and the 3D imagery really made the movie quite captivating and powerful.
Superman Returns: Response From Movie Goers
Outside the IMAX movie theater, the patrons flooded through the doors. I had a chance to interview a few of them and get their honest reaction after the movie had ended. Here is what they had to say:
“How they brought back Superman was great! The story was believable.”
“Kevin Spacey was phenomenal as Lex Luthor”
“Brandon Routh did a magnificent job at filling Christopher Reeves’ shoes!”
“This movie was cool and full of action! It wasn’t what I exceptedâÂ?¦it was better!”
“IMAX Theater was cool, the 3D Imaging and the huge screen truly made it feel like you were actually there.”
“The new twists were unexpectedly brilliant”
“It was my first experience at IMAX, I will defiantly be coming again! The movie was fantastic!”
“There is only one problem, I can never go to another theater to see this movie again, it just won’t be the same!”
Superman Returns: One Complaint
It seems that the politically correct virus has spread into this great comic book story. When I was a kid you could never hear Superman without his code of conduct being stated loudly and proudly. That code was “Truth, Justice and the American Way” as unfortunate as it is the “American Way” was rudely swept aside and replaced with “All that stuff” It seems to me that a character based on these principles should still be displayed as a defender of the morals that were once written when he was created. I, as many others do, feel that this display was offensive.
