TIPS Training at Bartending Schools in Chicago, Illinois

Bartending schools in the Chicago area offer a variety of training and classes. It is important when choosing a bartending school that you find one that will off an alcohol awareness class known as TIPS. This stands for Training for Intervention Procedures. TIPS is the global organizer in instruction and training for the accountable service, sale, and consumption of alcohol. Proven effective by third-party studies, TIPS is a skills-based training program that is designed to prevent intoxication, underage drinking, and drunk driving. Universally throughout the food service industry TIPS is a requirement.

TIPS trains servers, sellers, and consumers of alcohol how to prevent intoxication, drunk driving, and underage drinking. TIPS is respected by most employees that sell alcohol because it educates their employees with important information about alcohol and about the effects alcohol has on the people consuming it. A training class in TIPS will teach a bartending school student:

A TIPS training class will usually last about six hours. At the end of the class students are given an exam covering the material they learned in the class. You must pass the test to receive your tips certification. Certification lasts three years until it needs to be renewed. Once you are tips certified you are certified throughout the continental United States.

If you are new to the bartending field, TIPS certification can make a great addition to your resume. You may not have a lot of previous experience beyond bartending school to put on your resume, so make sure you can at least put that you are TIPS certified on their!
