Take Me as I Am

I’m tired of trying to change.
People may think I’m strange.

But I’m done trying to impress others.
Even if they’re my brothers.

I am who I am.
You may think, damn.

But I’m not living for fame.
And I might not be tame.

I know who I want to be.
But that’s just me.

Life isn’t about who likes who.
Or to do what others do.

But life is about helping yourself.
And then helping others help themselves.

You can’t be what others want.
Or you will be taunted.

So take me as I am.
Or watch me as I walk away.
