The Advantages of Electric Heating

The advantages of electric heating in a home are numerous, but to start with, one major advantage is a decrease of expenditure. Indeed, the other means of heating like domestic fuel or even gas underwent important increases in tariffs these last years. The simplicity of electric heating is also something to take into account. The installation of a radiator is indeed very simple to carry out by oneself and its maintenance requires relatively little time. Finally there exists a very vast choice of electric radiators which is integrated in all the interiors and for all different types of budgets.

But before buying an electric radiator you must study some very important points.

Initially you must determine its power. According to the volume of the part to be heated, of its exposure, its insulation and its nature (a room does not heat in the same manner as a kitchen for example). To make things simple, know that 30 Watts per m3 is largely sufficient in our France. Thus if your apartment has a volume of 60 m3 (4 meters length X 5 meters of width X 3 meters height), a power of 1800 Watts is necessary for a regular and economic heat. Note that with the top of 30 m �² of surface it is judicious to place 2 radiators of lower power which will cause to homogenize heat and to reduce your electric bill.

The place where you must install your radiator is important: place it if possible under a window, near a French window, in short, at a place where the air circulation is largest. The air moving goes up more quickly in temperature than static air. For safety reasons against a possible flood, you must place the electric radiator at a minimal height of 11cm compared to the ground.

Several kinds of electric radiators are present on the market. The convectors are composed of an electrical resistance that heats the room when the thermostat orders it to according to the desired adjustment. They are the least expensive and easiest to install. The radiators with radiant panels offer a more homogeneous heat since their radiation makes it possible to heat the air which circulates in the room but also the walls and furniture. As for the electric radiators with inertia, if their installation is more complex, they offer a heat comparable with a central heating, heat is restored even after it stops and they do not desiccate the atmosphere.

To have maximum control over your heating bill, it would be wise to complete the installation of the electric radiator by the addition of a thermostat. That makes it possible for the radiator to be started and to die out according to your desires. As for the programmer, it makes it possible to regulate the temperature of the room to be heated in advance or to program a lower temperature when you are absent for example.
