The Blame Game – Parents Blame the Media for Their Child’s Actions

There are a lot of negative things in the world today. How do we protect our children? Who do we blame when they are expose to sex, drugs and violence? Do we blame the parents for their parenting? No, we blame everything else that we could think of. From hip-hop to food, the blame on popular things doesn’t end. We want ourselves to be perfect in the eyes of our children but yet we can’t admit when we’re wrong and we’re the ones to blame.

Music

We all love music but hip hop became popular all over the world. Hip-hop artists are giving us a message whether good or bad. We listen, we like, we learn, but when our children take on certain ways we quickly blame the music. Hip-hop CD’s doesn’t fall in their laps. If you took the time out and look at what they’re purchasing you wouldn’t hear so much cursing in a Christian home, you would wonder where did my child get this CD. I agree the clothes that they wear is hip-hop but that doesn’t make them a “gangsta or a thug”. Society labels them as such. You as a parent should sit with your child and have conversation about what to take from music and what not to take from the music.

Food

You are what you eat. So why is your child eating McDonald nearly every night then parents turn around try to sue them for the super size meal? These parents clearly didn’t realize fast food is fattening food. Fast food is for a once a week. Children need nutrition, which they can’t get from fast food restaurant. They need home cook meals. I know you’re tired from coming home from work but don’t be selfish, you child need you. When you do cook give your child food portion that good for your child not for you. Your child can’t eat everything you eat.

Video games

We all love video games. Some video games are more explicit than others are. They have violence and gore, but when our child do something similar we quickly want to blame the game. Parents need to sit down and explain that it’s just a game and don’t take anything from the game and incorporate it into everyday life. Or even better, don’t let them play the game at all. You’re not depriving the kid from anything. If you feel the content inside the game isn’t appropriate for your child, don’t get it. Do research on the game before even thinking about getting it.

These are just a few things parents blame the media world. Parents need to stop blaming and start taking action. It’s not the media fault for your child current behavior. It’s your own. Stop using popular things as an escape goat. You’re not a child you don’t need an escape goat, you need to be honest with yourself and others. You need to take to child as a parent not a friend. Your child is not your friend. Your child is your responsibility until ready to cast out in the world. Shelter you child; get to know your child because tomorrow isn’t promise.
