The Cape Fear River Trail
Little did I know, that we have a little “touch of heaven” right here in the city I live in. My husband and I went to the Cape Fear River trail in Fayetteville, North Carolina. We loaded the baby up in her stroller and headed out. As we left the gravel parking lot, and started on the trail, I felt drawn to “something more”. I could feel peace slowly wash over me with each step we took. I was thrilled, absolutely thrilled to find a place near home where I could reconnect with “the woman within”. I was like a sponge, soaking it all in, from the smells of the wet earth, the sounds of the birds, crickets and bullfrogs, to the sights of the lizards scurrying and the tadpoles swimming. I could feel the stresses of my life wash away, and was reminded that life is so much more then mortgage payments, dirty dishes, and laundry.
The trail is approximately 4 miles in one direction. Along the way you will find fantastic picnicking spots, benches here and there, and phones in case of an emergency.
If you are ever in the Fayetteville area I suggest you venture out and explore the Cape Fear River Trail. You will not be disappointed. It will cost you nothing but time. It is a fantastic way to relax and to get away, if only for a little while.
During our walk on the Cape Fear River Trail, I fell in love all over again.with my husband, with me and life itself. As we walked, the sky opened and the rain began to fall. With each drop of rain, I felt a cleansing taking place withinI felt both refreshed and renewed. It was definitely a day I will never forget, a day filled with memories I will cherish for a lifetime.
