The Dark Side of Halloween in Hollywood

Every year, the young, beautiful, sexy playthings of Los Angeles convene in Hollywood for delightfully wicked Halloween celebrations.

From erotic, exotic dance clubs to full-scale fetish balls, this holiday brings out the fishnet-loving freak in the city’s most mainstream partygoers. When you’re ready to venture into the titillating world of adult-themed tricks and treats, head to Hollywood for the most unforgettable Halloween experience of your life!

Event: Bondage Ball
Date: Tuesday, October 31, 2006
Time: 9:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m.
Location: Henry Fonda Theatre
6126 Hollywood Boulevard
Ages: 18 & Over
Cost: $20 online before September 25; $25 at the door
Website: BondageBall.com

Perhaps the best-known and biggest annual adult Halloween event in town is the glorious, notorious Hollywood Bondage Ball. Held several times throughout each year at such venues as nightclub Avalon the famous Henry Fonda Theatre, this fete attracts fetish-minded individuals from all over the Southland and has even begun to establish a presence in the Midwest. The event has also attracted media attention from E! and several national magazines such as Hustler’s Taboo.

The dress code isn’t strict, but exotic, gothic, and fetish clothing are all highly encouraged. Be prepared to see individuals in almost every state of undress – and duress. The Ball brings live performances by BDSM professionals, so if the whips-and-chains scene isn’t your style, best stick to tamer environs. The party will also feature at least one bar and dance floor as well as a wide range of kink-themed vendors.

Event: Bar Sinister’s Halloween Party
Date: Saturday, October 28, 2006
Time: 9:30 p.m. – 3:00 a.m.
Location: 1652 North Cherokee Avenue
Ages: 21 & Over
Cost: $10 in goth or fetish costume; $15 otherwise
Website: BarSinister.net

Bar Sinister has been Hollywood’s favorite dark nightspot for ages. With three full bars; expansive indoor and outdoor dance floors; a band stage; and Purgatory, a lofted dungeon/fetish-oriented performance space, this club is perfectly appointed to offer the kinkiest of Halloween parties. Although it’s decidedly more low-key than the Bondage Ball, Bar Sinister offers the less dedicated kinksters and voyeurs a great opportunity to appreciate the darker side of Hollywood nightlife on this holiday weekend. The city’s best dark-music DJs will be spinning electronica, gothic, and industrial tracks late into the night as professional dominatrices and submissives put on a show upstairs.

The dress code is lightly encouraged by the scaled cover charge, but anyone can get inside for a tour of L.A.’s dark scene, including latex- and fishnet-clad go-go dancers of both genders. For a bit extra, you can reserve a table of champagne and appetizers for you and your friends, complete with extra courtesy and discounts at the door.

Hollywood, CA 90028

Website: DaskProductions.com

Once again, the city’ largest all-adult Halloween party has announced it will set up shop at the massive Hollywood Palladium. If, in spite of the holiday, you’d like to keep the sexy and lose the spooky, this masquerade and ball might be just the event for you. Last year’s event boasted a 3,500-person capacity, 30 bars, Cirque du Soleil-style aerial and fire performers, and enough music and diversion to keep partygoers partying well into the wee hours. Costumes are not merely encouraged but are a requirement for all attendees – and the sexier, the better!

Not many details have been released yet for the 2006 edition of the Dask Productions party, but the flyer posted on the DASK website promises more of the same sexy entertainment as last year. One more tip: The VIP tickets may be worth the extra C-note; A-list treatment includes private performances, SkyBox views, private restrooms, dinner, and open bars.
