The Extreme Gaming PC vs. a Normal PC

Computers are outdated the moment after you buy a brand new computer. Why do they do this? Well… For Business of of course, but also to bring people the newest technology available. This is why computers from even one year ago are pretty cheap. Now you can buy a decent computer for under $1,500.00, which is very good, while newer computers with updated hardware are above $2,500.00 and even more. Gamers have been at the top of the totem pole with pricing, mainly because normal computers don’t have even close to the power as a gaming computer does. The cost of both these machines are very spread apart, so make sure you really want a pc for gaming if you are a die hard gamer, if not normal pc’s aren’t that bad.

When we take a look at the pricing of pc’s, we see various different costs. You can buy a computer now a days for $500.00, which won’t give you an awful lot, but still will give you the basics. Normal pc’s consist of a limited video card, some decent ram, and a decent processor for what is for. Obviously you won’t get the best in technology when paying $500.00, but not everyone needs a computer filled with power. Many parents buy there children an average based computer because they use it for schoolwork and whatnot. People that play hardcore 3D games, will spend $3,000.00 or more on a computer just to get the best in power. Basic price structure is between $500.00 and $5,000.00, and that is big hold in between the prices.

When you compare the two, you see a huge difference in hardware specifications so without any further interruptions, let’s compare the two. Alienware which is the nations leading gaming computer made by a factory, is used by most gamers, and is said to pack the most power out of a factory made machine. In fact half of Alienware’s Computers aren’t that expensive at all. You can buy a strong gaming machine for about $1,800.00, which is cheap compared to other gaming machines. Normally when buying a strong gaming computer, you look for video settings, good sound, a fast processor, and a lot of ram. This adds up a lot, and that is why these computers are so expensive. Single hardware might not cost a lot, but when you add everything up, plus the mainframe, it adds up.

They have computers for $5,000.00, and while this might be very very expensive, they are the motherload of all computers. These computers are usually equipped with the best hardware known to everyone, and usually pack the computer with top of the line software, and dual processing units, that can handle the power of just about anything. Why buy these type of computers? Well… It is simple, if you want to play the best of games made these days, you need a good computer. This is how the gaming computer companies are making money. When a video game is dveloped they are told to pack enough power, so the spender can buy a strong computer. I always choose Doom 3 to use as an example because it uses top technology in it’s gaming engine. Doom 3 needs at least a 128 MB video card with 3D acceleration, so you think buying a regular computer will do it. You also need to look at RAM and processor speed, because this backs up the video card. Also when playing games, you want a dual fanned unit, while gaming can cause overheating, and overheating can cause you to lose your data, and just plain old mess up your computer. I highly recommend if you buy a gaming machine, that you are going to use the computer strictly for gaming, because these machines will definitely burn a hold in your pockets.

Moving on to the average normal pc, these computers aren’t so bad. If you are an average kid looking to type your homework, or type im’s to your friends, or even watch a dvd, than these computers are for you. Normal pc’s would consist of HP, Compaq, Sony, etc. Normally when you go to a computer store, you see these brands, and while they do make high end computers, the average is usually around $1,200.00. You get what you pay for of course, and while the computer might look strong at $1,000.00, just how strong can it be? There are always flaws in these types of machines, while the graphics might not be too strong, or they used shared video ram or ram, it just doesn’t cut it for gamers, so these machines are good for the average computer user just looking to type up documents, watch videos, etc. Now when you spend this much on a computer, sure you can play games on them, just not strong games. AMD is a good processor chip when playing games, and many pc’s are using AMD, so these computers would be able to probably handle stronger games. One problem with AMD is they overheat much more than Intel, so make sure you get a good fan system when using AMD. The average computer will hold a 2.5 GHZ processor, 512 MB of RAM, a low end 128 MB video card with shared video ram, and a decent sound card. While all of this sounds pretty good, compared to a gaming machine it’s nothing, so don’t expect to play Doom 3 on these computers. All in all normal computers that have medium powered hardware are not bad, and if you are going to use the computer for average tasks, I would definitely recommend getting this over a gaming machine.

Overall the computer industry is growing, and the more high end games come out, the better the gaming computers will do. Just remember the price of the computers though, as they can get quite steep. If you are looking for the middle classed computer look to spend between $1,500.00 and $2,200.00. These computers will handle most games, and much more. I in my opinion like gaming computers, and even though I play games, I like the power and speed of a monster machine, so if you can handle the price go for it, but they aren’t recommended for the average user, who needs a basic computer for school.
