The Infamous Pike Place Market

Located in Seattle, Pike Place Market is a must see. Even though there are hundreds of stores and vendors to see, here is but a sampling of enjoyable ones to visit.

1. Pike Place Fish Market Inc

86 Pike St
Seattle, WA 98101
206-682-7181
5-stars for entertainment value. I had heard about the stories regarding ‘flying fish’ here. I had to go check it out. First time I was there, a HUGE monk fish was on ice and facing the customers with its mouth open. Of course, customers started to crowd around, whispering amongst themselves. An employee was behind the counter, waited for the most opportune time, and pulled back on the fish causing it to move. “AAAHHH!!!” screamed the women. That was my first experience here and all the more reason to return to this Seattle Pike Place Market favorite. I go back every time I can and just stand there for awhile. Pure entertainment at its finest.

I buy fish here only to support the business since it is an icon here and is locally owned. Plus, it is such fresh fish that is displayed in a very appealing manner. They also ship.

2. Pike Place Flowers

The most incredibly beautiful flower arrangements I have seen. Located on the corner of the Pike Place Market area, the fresh HUGE bouquets are hard to miss!!! It is so nice to take the time and browse what they have here at this favorite Seattle flower shop. The bouquets are breathtaking and always bring a smile to my face. Plus, they are locally grown..from what I understand. Prices are reasonable for what you receive.

3. Delaurenti Specialty Food & Wine
1435 1st Ave
Seattle, WA 98101

This business shop is another favorite at Pike Place Market. I love the variety in here! First time I was in here, I saw many foods I was not familiar with. The atmosphere is very inviting and introduced me to many new foods and how to use them. The service was helpful and loved to share their information. Prices were kind of high, though. I think that is to be expected in this area. Plus, there are many imported items here. It is a classic.

This place has alot of hard to find items in it. Atmosphere is very pleasing and cozy. There is room to maneuver in, too.

4. Three Girls Bakery
1514 Pike Place Suite 1
Seattle, WA 98101
206-622-1045
This bakery is located along the outdoors Pike Place Market walk. This is the best place to go and check out all the baked goodies! The displays are stacked full earlier in the day and dwindle as the day transpires. That is why I recommend going there early. 🙂 Prices are reasonable and baked goods are so fresh, tasty, and comforting. What a treat! It is fun just to see the variety of breads and goodies they offer. They are baked fresh daily.

Every time I have been here, the service has been efficient and friendly. They are very knowledgeable about their products. I like that. They are a known and very popular Seattle bakery.

5. Mr D’s Greek Delicacies
1518 Pike Place
Seattle, WA 98101
206-622-4881
This is another must stop at Seattle’s Pike Place Market. When I first saw the prices, I was skeptical. I had heard so many good things about this place, I threw caution aside and enjoyed a yeero (sp?). WOW! It was delicious, a huge serving size, and very impressive in appearance. It was well worth the price. I was filled up for the remaining of my day at the Market. The only drawback, it is kind of messy. I just found a seat down the road a bit and simply enjoyed. There are plenty of other items available here, too. The baklava is one of the best I have ever tasted and was very fresh. It definitely is the best baklava I have had in Seattle.

The service employee was quick, friendly, and well informed about their foods. She welcomed my questions and seemed like she really enjoyed sharing her foods with others. This was an all around good place.

6. Mee Sum Pastries
Pike Place Market
Seattle, WA 98127
I came across this gem while strolling through Pike Place Market my first time. It smelled great and the hombows looked interesting. I asked what they were and received a quick, yet informative answer. Humbows are baked or steamed buns filled with meats and/or veggies. They are fantastic! There is a nice variety to choose from, too. They are freshly made and an easy ‘hand food’ to enjoy while taking in the rest of the Market. They are the largest I have seen in the Seattle area and set the standard for other establishments. I have never tasted another one like the quality made at Mee Sum. Plus, they are very reasonably priced. The BBQ Pork Hombow is my favorite. The chicken is good, too. For $2, you can’t go wrong!

There are also HUGE almond cookies and other items available here – I was just focused on the infamous humbows.

7. Chukar Cherries
Pike Place Market
Seattle, WA.
This gem is located indoors at Pike Place Market. They have a wonderful assortment of chocolate covered cherries, dried cherries, fruit sauces, jellies, gift baskets, nuts, etc. They are especially known for their cherry inspired treats. All cherries and foods are grown in Washington. Rainier and bing cherries have never had it so good!

They offer free samples, which is nice. Plus, they ship nationwide. This is a definite Seattle must see and experience.
