The Journey that is EverQuest
Massive Multi-player Online Role Playing Game. Let me explain for you PC game newbies. An MMORPG is a whole lot of people from all over the world playing a game simultaneously. It’s easy to get started. All you do is buy the game software, install it on your home computer, and then purchase a game subscription from the server company. Very simple.
One of the biggest MMORPGs online is the fantasy wonder known as EverQuest. EverQuest, created and run by Sony Online Entertainment, is as addictive as caffiene(which is a handy thing when you’ve been up for 3 days straight level grinding). Set in the mythical land of Norrath, EverQuest is a long and intense journey spread out over thousands of zones and instances sending you on a super fantastic voyage from legandary Velious to the hazardous Tower of Solusek Ro.
First released in 1999, EverQuest has a cult following of over 450,000 subscribers from 3 continents. This is phenomenal, considering it has only been around for 7 years.
EverQuest isnt just a game of mythical worlds, it is also a showcase of unreal but realized characters. With 15 races , you could choose to be a human or an ogre. With 16 classes, you could choose to be a warrior or a necromancer. Any race and class you choose will set out to battle terrifying creatures in lands unknown in order to reach level 70. This isnt as easy or as short as it sounds. A casual player can take up to 2 months to get his/her character from level 1 to level 30.
Guilds and raid groups are constantly being formed. They graciously add friendship, brotherhood, and association to a world of commerce, duels, and raids. This is a very diverse game. No one will ever be bored it they know where to go or who to talk to.
It is a long ardous journey created for the imaginative fairy tale lover in all of us, but only the patient and long suffering can battle through level after level of intense and unfriendly conflict to arrive, in the end, a true conquerer on this ever quest. FIN.
