The Kone Hand Vacuum from Dirt Devil

My husband and I live in a small apartment. You’d think it would be an easy thing to keep it clean, but it’s actually more difficult, because we have so little space to accomodate stuff that we have to use for our home office and for storage.

Sometimes the carpet can get dirty in little spots and, in the past, we have had to end up hauling out either our large-sized vacuum cleaner or large electric carpet sweeper. Those work fine, when there are larger messes to clean up, but, when it’s just something small or minor, it’s pretty inconvenient to have to drag those huge appliances out of the closet.

A few months ago, while looking through a Best Buy Healthcare Products catalog, we saw an item, the “Kone Hand Vacuum from Dirt Devil” that looked pretty intriguing to us. Having used Dirt Devil appliances in the past, we trusted the integrity of their product line and so read on to see just what this product was supposed to offer.

The “Kone Hand Vacuum from Dirt Devil” is a small, cone-shaped hand vac that measures 6-1/3″ long X 6″ wide. It only weights 1.9 pounds, so is extremely lightweight. The top part of the cone is the handle of the vacuum that is camouflaged in the base, which can be continously charged in preparation for use. This is a hand vac that looks more like a decorative art piece you have put in the corner.

It was, in fact, personally conceived by an authentic designer by the name of Karim Rashid. I admit that, in spite of our general confidence in Dirt Devil products, we were a little doubtful that anything that looked so “pretty” would actually be functionsl as a real hand vac. Since it offered a three year warrenty as part of the package, we decided to go ahead and place an order for it. If it didn’t work, we would simply complain to the company.

After a wait of a few weeks, our “Kone Hand Vacuum from Dirt Devil” arrived. It was, as they had described it, very unique in appearance, but we wondered if anything so small and light could perform the cleanup we needed. It has a 7.2 volt motor, however, which we hoped would provide adequae suction power.

We have been using it, on and off, for several months, to clean small messes on our carpets, like crumbs, spilled powder and other minor stuff. We have found that it does indeed do a decent job on those type of things. Best of all, we don’t have to change any bags. just wash out the bin.

It’s a relief to be able to whisk up small areas of dirt with our little “Kone Hand Vacuum from Dirt Devil”, instead of having to lug around the big vacuum cleaner. We only use the larger vaccum cleaner now for the major cleaning.

You can purchase the “Kone Hand Vacuum from Dirt Devil” from Best Buy Healthcare Products for only $38.99.
