The Risks of Bailing Kids Out of a Jam with Money
In reality we aren’t helping them if we keep bailing them out of money situations repeatedly of times. It is like a cycle that eventually just get even worse unless it is eventually put to a stop somehow. The young adults who realize that they will always have a security blanket to fall back on then they will not learn the true meaning of taking care of themselves.
We are actually stumping their progress into the grown up adult world when we hand them money everytime they come running for help. When we give them money almost all the time then it is setting them up to fail in becoming an responsible adult. They don’t understand what its truly like to take care of themselves if they are always getting money from mom and dad.
We often treat our kids like little children, but yet we expect them to act like adults. How can we expect kids to become grown up adults when we still treat like them like little children?
In order for young adults to act like adults they do need to learn to take on all the responsibility of being an adult. Young Adults needs to learn to budget their money along with saving money. They need to learn to pay rent and car payments along with everything else including basic living expenses.
Young Adults will eventually learn to take care of themselves when they become totally broke with no money enough times. They will understand that money doesn’t grow on trees. Some parents feel guilty or whichever if they refuse to help their kids.
Parents are actually helping their kids into the process of being an adult if they refuse to give them anymore money. Parents shouldn’t feel guilty at all about teaching kids through tough love that it is time to start being an adult. They need to stop mooching off mom and dad.
Young adults will thank you later on in life during those times when you refused to help them. They will understand why when they get older. Teaching them to truly take care of themselves isn’t a crime therefore parents don’t need to feel guilty about it. It isn’t parents responsibility to take care of kids after the age of 18.
After young adults have struggled many times with money only then will they finally be able to truly understand the concept of money. They will appreciate everything that you have done for them. They will one day understand that you always are just trying to help them in the best way possible that you know of.
