The Ritz-Carlton is Perfect Destination for Date Night

Anyone with young kids knows how hard it is to have alone time with your spouse. I’m not just talking about “hey papi – you and me tonight.” No, I mean ANY kind of alone time. Be it watching TV or just having a quiet dinner. It’s just insania all the time (is that even a word?) and by the time we call it a night, we are in deep slumber within 5 minutes because we are trying to get as much sleep as possible before the baby wakes up.

Seriously – our room is like a community center. One child comes in, the other jumps out, then back in again then BOTH of them in the middle and my husband and I are left on our respective sides clinging on to the edge in the hopes of sneaking in a few more hours of sleep.

Quality and proper alone time does NOT exist in our world – but it should. We do try to do the date nights, but he travels a lot so we’d rather spend family time together, especially before his next trip. And when we do go out alone (which obviously requires us to come home), we still wake up in the middle of the night to a crying baby or M wanting to come and snuggle after having a bad dream – then it’s rise and shineâÂ?¦.at 6:00 am!

You get it.

We desperately needed some child-free time. When the oh-so-fabulous The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner came a knockin’ on the Very Busy MamÃ?¡’s door to invite us to spend a complimentary night complete with dinner at the ENTYSE Wine Bar & Lounge, access to the 24th VIP floor and champagne breakfast the Mr. and I didn’t even bat an eyelid – we looked at each other, looked at the kids and he asked “is your mom around that weekend to watch them?”

That’s how much we craved time alone.

So you’d better believe we made it a full weekend! We dropped of the kids at Oma’s at midday on Saturday and we went straight to the Ritz-Carlton to attend the “Hosting the Perfect Dinner Party” culinary demonstration which is part of the their Fall Epicurean Series. Executive Chef Matthew Morrison showed us how to make easy (my favorite!) yet impressive hor d’oeuvres and canapÃ?©s to prepare at home AND the bartender showed us how to make some ridiculously amazing signature cocktails. And yes. We tried them all.

It goes without saying the food was top notch. By the time dinner rolled around we had to take a step back and go easy on our order – especially since we’d hit the 24th floor to have appetizers and a little pre-dinner wine. It felt great to be able to enjoy dinner with the Mr. have a good laugh and justâÂ?¦RELAX. Image that!

Of course I planned what I was going to wear – but I wanted something easy to take me from day to night with a few changes. I didn’t want to take much and I wanted it to be hassle-free – did a little re-shopping of my closet and pulled out a few goodies.

So here’s the thing, The Ritz-Carlton has something for everyone – if you are looking for a little staycation with the family like my friend Angelica of Clarendon Moms did or an afternoon away, an after work drink or an overnight date night then do yourself a favor and get yourself to the nearest Ritz-Carlton.

You really don’t have to do much and it’s amazing what some alone time with your husband or spouse can do for you. We laughed – and get this, we actually stood next to each other and HELD HANDS. It felt so incredibly good!

Service was impeccable, with the concierge staff remembering your name and attention was given to the smallest of details. It’s a one of a kind, VIP experience and ideal for a child-free overnight date night.
