The Sprint Tapeless Digital Answering System

After years of using telephone answering machines that relied on those little cassette tapes to record messages on, I finally upgraded my home answering system , by purchasing a Sprint Tapeless Digital Answering System. Don’t let the big name fool you. This is still an answering machine, just a more streamlined and updated version of one. With the Sprint Tapeless Digital Answering System, there are no tapes to get bound- up, worn- out, or otherwise dysfunctional. The Sprint system has a digital memory, which stores messages, in place of a tape. The machine can record approximately 12 minutes of messages, including an announcment that greets callers, for a total of up to 59 messages.

Depending on how much space is in the memory, a caller can leave a message of up to three minutes long. After three minutes, or seven seconds of silence, the system beeps and hangs up. Measuring 4 3/4 inches by 4 1/4 inches, the French- vanilla white Sprint Tapeless Digital Answering System displays efficiency in action. The top, or face of the system contains a small LED screen, which flashes the number of messages waiting. Below the screen is the large Play/Stop button. To hear all messages, press this button. The Memo/Repeat button, to the left of Play/ Stop, is the function by which you may record an announcment or greeting to callers. This is an outstanding feature of the Sprint Tapeless Digital Answering System. Simply press down on the Memo/Repeat button until it beeps, then record any announcment you want. It’s so easy and so much fun to record a new greeting on the Sprint Tapeless Digital Answering System, that I have recorded several different announcments. To hear your outgoing greeting or announcment, press the Annc/Skip button, to the right of Play/Stop. This button also enables the user to skip past messages, without having to listen to all of them. By pressing this button consecutively, you can bypass old messages, while waiting to hear new ones. The other buttons are ; On/Off, Clock, Volume, Setup and Delete. To delete a message, just press the Delete button, no rewinding.

The sound and clarity of the Sprint Tapeless Digital Answering System are superb. Another great feature is the remote operation. As long as you have a touch- tone phone, you can call your own phone number from anywhere and access most features of this answering system. First, you need to create an access code. That is done by pressing and releasing the Setup button repeatedly, scanning numbers. You can choose any three digit number from 100 to 999. When playing- back, or listening to messages stored on the machine, the Sprint Tapeless Digital Answering System offers the ability to repeat part of a message, or skip a message.

Incredibly, with this unit, you can call your own machine and utilize the Sprint Tapeless Digital Answering System as a room monitor, acting almost like a microphone/ recorder, picking up any sounds in the room. This is done by pressing 8- 8, which allows for 30 seconds of listening- time. You can even talk to someone in the room, while the ‘monitor’ is on, by pressing 8again, and speaking. To exit the room monitor, press 5.

Answering machines, or telephone answering systems are an ever- present and often frustrating, fact of modern life. Without proper upkeep and replacement of tapes, the older- style answering machines can be somewhat ineffective. Many times, when calling a person who has an answering machine with a tape, if they pick up the phone while the greeting and/ or recording has started, the greeting will continue and your subsequent conversation will be taped and/ or broadcast loudly through the machine’s speaker, unless the recipient stops the tape. With the Sprint Tapeless Digital Answering System, if the same situation occurs, simply pick up the phone and the recording stops immediately. No muss. No fuss.

For the consumer seeking to buy a digital telephone answering system, the Sprint Tapeless Digital Answering System is a wonderful product. It is highly recommended for use as a home or commercial answering system. The Sprint Tapeless Digital Answering System usually retails for .
