The Swiffer or the Norwex Mop?

As a mom of a busy nine-month old, I am always looking for green cleaning products in my home and also products that make my life a lot easier. Recently I discovered the Norwex mop that has changed the way I clean my floors. Once I started using this new product, my floors have been much cleaner and easier to clean since then. The best part is, I do not have to use any cleaning product!

I used to think the Swiffer was the be all and end all of mops. It did a pretty good job, but Norwex does it even better. What I like about the Swiffer, the Norwex mop also holds true. Both mops swivel, come with dry and wet mops pads, attract dirt with a “cling” texture, and Velcro to the pads. The Norwex mop handle, dry mop pad, and wet mop pad come to a total of $80, which seems pretty pricey, because you can buy a simple Swiffer starter set for only $9.98. When I had a Swiffer I was constantly buying replacement pads, even though you can buy 16 for about $5. That’s a big difference in cost, you might say. However, when you use the Swiffer as a dry mop or broom, you are “sweeping” multiple times a day. Those pads get dirty very quickly and do not last more than a few washes. That is the main reason that I chose to buy the Norwex mop.

The Norwex mop has dry and wet pads made of microfiber with antimicrobial properties. That means, you can mop and rinse the wet mop, leave it and it will not stink or grow mold overnight. This is something that cannot be done with the Swiffer pads. Another great thing that I like about my new mop is that you do not need any cleaning products! Just use hot water, wring it and let it dry. After a couple of uses it needs to be washed. I just wash mine with hot water, no soap, and dry it in the dryer without dryer sheets. If you follow these steps, the Norwex wet mop pad will last for hundreds of washes and you will no longer need to store harmful chemicals under your sink. Onto the dry mop pad….

The dry mop pad on the Norwex mop attracts dirt very well, making it easier for the wet mop to do its job. I use it in place of my broom unless there are larger things to sweep up. You can also use it to clean the walls and ceilings and extend the mop to whatever height you want! So, even though the Norwex mop is a bigger investment up front, you will save money on replacement pads, cleaning products, and dryer sheets and your floors will be cleaner than ever!
