Jerry Uht Baseball Park
A unique baseball viewing experience, Jerry Uht Park is one of the many venues offering entertainment in Erie. In the summer be sure to visit the park to check out the local AA affiliates of the Detroit Tigers, the Erie Seawolves. The stadium is currently undergoing major renovations to improve fan experience such as a better outfield screen, a beer garden, and renovated seating. All of the upgrades are set to be accomplished in the near future so be sure to check out the stadiums new look during the 2007 season. If you’re looking for cheap entertainment, Monday is the night to attend. Known as buck night, admission to the game is only 3 dollars while many concessions such as hot dogs, popcorn, beer, and pop are only one dollar apiece. This family friendly atmosphere is definitely a very affordable option for a night out in Erie. The field is located at the corner of 10th and French streets.
Louis J. Tullio Arena
For a good winter activity, check out the Louis J. Tullio Arena and it’s inhabitants, the Erie Otters. A team only a few years removed from an Ontario Hockey League Championship, the Otter’s season runs from late September through the middle of March, excluding possible playoffs. This is one of the few activities to do in Erie during the harsh winters. The fans typically pack the stadium particularly against their rivals the Kitchener Rangers. The OHL is sometimes preferred over the NHL due to their unpaid status, young age (most are in high school), and the increased number of fights over professional games. Top all of this off with a great fan base and other fan friendly entertainment and the Otters are a sure hit. The Louis J. Tullio Arena also plays host to other events such as WWE, indoor football, and musical acts. The Louis J. Tullio Arena is located adjacent to Jerry Uht Park, also at 10th and French streets.
Warner Theatre
For something a little more on the artsy side, check out the Warner Theatre. This theatre is home to the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra and the Erie Ballet. The theatre also plays host to many main stage concert acts, which have in the past include local favorite Train. Also presented in the theatre every year are a number of Broadway plays from both outside play companies as well as local productions. The theatre is currently undergoing major modernization and restoration which is set to be concluded in fall 2007. Veteran’s Stadium
For a more down home appeal, check out Veteran’s Stadium located at the corner of State and 26th Streets. This venues plays host to a variety of local high school football games including some of the biggest matches of the year. This venue is one of the cheapest for a weekend night on the town and allows local to see some of the home grown talent before it is well known. Many weekends feature both Friday night and Saturday night games, it offers many different options for those wanting to attend. It’s cheap admission price and marquee match-ups make it a draw for folks from all across the region.
