The Top Sports Bars in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area
Buffalo Wings & Beer has 9 locations in the DC area, including a site at FedEx Field (the Washington Redskins Stadium) located in Landover, MD. Besides watching the game, the biggest attraction is the Buffalo wings. There is a huge variety of sauces for your wings that you can choose from that are either mild or hot enough to completely destroy your taste buds. Good stuff. The menu is loaded with lots of food that will keep your appetite at ease while you watch the Redskins or the Nationals play. The Champion Billiards Caf© has been around since 1977 and has expanded throughout the DC area with 8 locations. The biggest attraction at the Champion Billiards Caf© is pool. Pool leagues are available as well as a Texas Hold em tournament available on Mondays and Wednesdays.
During my days in Reston, Virginia, I always enjoyed going to Champps during lunch and after work. There are huge TV screens everywhere for fans to enjoy the local televised game. If there isn’t a game on, ESPN is always available for the latest sports update. The food is pretty good, cooked on a huge grill in an opened view for the customers to see. In Maryland, Champps is only available in the city of Columbia. Virginia has four locations (Reston, Richmond, Fairfax, and Arlington). Dave and Busters, located in Bethesda Maryland, is probably the most popular sports bar/restaurant in the DC area. There are many arcade games for Adults to play. Sorry Kids, only those 18 and older are able to get in. Pool tables, big screen TV’s are also available as well. The ESPN Zone, located in downtown DC, is another popular choice for sports fanatics. The zone can get pretty crowded sometimes, but still a great atmosphere. The Espn Zone always has constant visits from famous athletes all across the country and there is huge screened TV’s everywhere.
Fast Eddies Sports and Billiards CafÃ?© is located in Centreville, Fairfax, and Springfield Virginia. There is also a location in Washington, DC as well. Fast Eddies offers live music as well as karaoke nights (depending on location) for those not interested in the latest game on television. I’ve been to Joe Theismann’s restaurant once, but loved every minute of it. This spot may be the number one Redskin sports bar in Virginia, due to the fact that Joe was a proud and legendary member of the burgundy-and-gold back in the late 70’s and early 90’s. The food is good as well as the service. Although, Joe’s is more of a restaurant than a sports bar, you can still catch the Skins games while you enjoy a hot meal. Kirkpatrick’s Irish Pub and Sports Bar is another great atmosphere for sports fans. There is satellite feeds all over the place at Kirkpatricks, showing sports all-year round. Live bands and poker tournaments are a constant here.
