Hy’s Steakhouse is one of the most popular steakhouses in Honolulu. Located at 2440 Kuhio Avenue near Waikiki Beach, Hy’s Steakhouse is difficult to miss. Because of its terrific location, Hy’s Steakhouse is often very busy, and reservations are definitely recommended. The atmosphere is a bit formal, and proper attire is required (for gents, collared shirts and long pants will do fine). In addition to offering a full bar, Hy’s Steakhouse also boasts an “extensive ‘Wine Spectator’ award-winning wine list that will please almost any palate.” At Hy’s Steakhouse, you can also experience live music, as island legend Audy Kimura performs Wednesday through Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The restaurant serves dinner daily from 6 p.m. ro 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Morton’s Steakhouse is another well-known steakhouse chain that offers elegant dining and unforgettable steaks. Located at 1450 Ala Moana Boulevard in Honolulu’s Ala Moana Center, the food is a tad expensive and some complain about vegetables and potatoes costing extra. However, the steaks themselves can easily make you forget about all that. Choose between the double-cut filet mignon (my favorite here), the Porterhouse or double Porterhouse, the New York Strip, the Ribeye, and the Prime Rib. For the lighter appetite, Morton’s Steakhouse offers “slightly smaller” steaks. And their desserts are nearly as delicious as their steaks, so save room.
