The Veronicas Are a Singing Duo Sensation With a Teen Beat
The music of the Veronicas falls into the teen beat genre, which is described as dance-oriented pop music. It can also be accurately described as R & B style ballads. Whatever it is called, it has proven to be a successful venture for this duo.
The girls present an eye-appealing package with their slender body frames, gorgeous looks and long, dark hair. A classy style and eye-catching looks are extremely important and these two have both characteristics. Lisa and Jess, while dressing like bad girls, are actually two very intelligent and talented young women. Their manner of dress is designed to appeal to a particular crowd- mainly, young teenage girls and middle-aged men. Not surprisingly, the Veronicas appear to be quite successful at that.
Their eyes gaze out at you from behind layers upon layers of dark eye make-up. This look seems to be the rage with young women these days, so it is sure to garner approval from teenage girls everywhere.
Currently, the Veronicas are weaving a successful path for themselves in Australia. As you listen to the words that they sing, messages of rebellion and love reverberate back and forth, as the sound of the music permeates the atmosphere. Although this is a definite ploy to attract the attention of young women globally, it has led to a successful career for this singing duo.
The Veronica duo has been performing since they were five years old. Their father performed in a band at that time also. Starting their careers as a singing and dancing duo in a theater company, they switched to song writing at the age of sixteen.
At the age of eighteen, the twins began experimenting with lyrics in the acoustic rock pop genre and fell in love with it. During their teenage years, the girls released three albums under the name of Lisa and Jessica. By the time they released the album, “Baby It’s Over,” the duo were being noticed and sought after by many individuals in the music industry.
The girls landed a publishing deal while still in Brisbane and wrote twenty songs. An independent company from Australia discovered their talent and took them overseas on an international tour that included London, Sweden, the United States, and Canada.
While overseas, the duo composed quite a few songs on their own. Therefore, the girls had quite a few songs to select from for their first album with Warner Brothers, under the label, Sire. Their full-length debut album was released in the year 2005.
By this time, they had changed their name to The Veronicas. As far as their name goes, the girls did not want to highlight the fact that they are sisters. They chose a name with attitude, because they wanted it to reflect who they are.
Although they admit to influences from several areas, the sisters like to think of their music as rock pop with an edge or attitude to it. Dark and moody describes some of their tunes. Artists who influenced their work include AC/DC, Michael Jackson, Avril Lavigne, My Chemical Romance, Buchanan, and The Youth.
The Veronicas have been successfully climbing to the top of the music ladder of success and have rightfully earned their place near the top. They maintain their own myspace.com site, complete with photoblog. Stay tuned for more from this singing sensation, The Veronicas.
