The Wind

I think I saw the wind today
I’m almost sure I did
I saw him in the meadow there
Just playing as a kid

I saw him bend the trees down low
And scatter leaves abroad
I saw him pluck some flowers too
And roll down in the sod

I know I saw him by the lake
With waves so big and wide
He chased them right up to the shore
Those mighty ocean tides

I saw him in the sky so blue
And in the clouds so white
He flew about, so high, so free
As if a bird in flight

I think I saw the wind today
So happy, careless, free
But now I can’t help wondering
By chance, did he see me?
