Three Simple Homemade Halloween Costumes Using Balloons
Jar of Jelly Beans Costume
*You will need small, cylindrical balloons of multiple colors
A sheet of clear plastic vinyl.
Make a bag that goes around the person with their arms and head free out of the clear plastic vinyl sheet. If you want you can even just use clear tape for this instead of making it too hard to sew or pin. Make sure that you put elastic drawstrings at the bottom so that nothing falls out of the bag and also at the top so that you can stuff the balloons in the bag. Inflate several different colors of the balloons and stuff them into the drawstring bag after the person has it on. Stuff it with enough balloons to keep it full, but so that the person is comfortable and can put their arms down. Cinch the elastic at the top of the costume to close up the bag. A good idea is to have the person wear all of one color underneath the costume such as all white or red.
A Bunch of Grapes Costume
*You will need:
25-30 purple round balloons
Purple sweatshirt and sweatpants (or tights)
25-30 safety pins
1yard green felt
2-3 yards of wired ribbon
Inflate and knot the ends of the balloons. Attach the tips of the balloons to the sweat suit or tights with the safety pins. To make it look like grapes put more balloons up top by the shoulders and less taper them down once you get down the bottom half. Make a basic hat out of the green felt (you can use safety pins if you do not want to sew). Then make a big leaf out of the green felt and place it on the front of the hat. Out of the wired ribbon make a curly vine to go above the leaf.
Bubble Bath Costume
*You will need:
20-30 round pink or white balloons
20-30 safety pins
Pink or white sweat suit or tights
1 hair clip
Inflate and knot all the balloons. Inflate about 3 of the balloons only half way. Attach the inflated balloons with the safety pins to the outfit. Take the half inflated balloons and glue them onto the hair clip. Place the hair clip on the top the person’s head.
