Tide Laundry Detergent Versus Gain Laundry Detergent

I’ll admit it; I’m one of those people that smell their clothes after they come out of the dryer. If you use a cheap laundry detergent you’ll usually smell nothing when you stick your nose down into the folds of your clothes. Even if you use fabric softener, the damage is already done by using an inferior laundry detergent. Some of the cheaper laundry detergents will get your clothes clean, but I don’t feel that my clothes are truly clean unless they have a pleasant smell after being washed. Two of my favorite laundry detergents are Tide and Gain, but which one is better at getting your clothes clean and smelling wonderful?

Tide laundry detergent is one of the most expensive laundry detergents on the market, but I have to say, the regular Tide laundry detergent, doesn’t leave your clothes smelling so great. When I first tried Tide laundry detergent I was really disappointed, but then I received a sample of Tide with Febreze and I was in love with Tide laundry detergent. Tide with Febreze laundry detergent is great for washing things like towels and sheets. Tide does offer other neat products such as Tide Coldwater that cleans clothes just as well in cold water as hot. Tide also has Tide to Go which allows you to remove stains while you’re out and about. Their new laundry detergents have essential oils added to them to make them smell even better. They include Vanilla and Lavender, Lily and Jasmine, and Rose and Violet. Tide works really well at getting your clothes clean, but if you have stubborn stains you can use Tide with Bleach Alternative. If you’re like me, and are always forgetting to add fabric softener to your laundry, you will love Tide with a touch of Downy laundry detergent.

Gain laundry detergent has always smelled wonderful; even long before they started adding different scents. Gain original laundry detergent has been a favorite of mine since I moved out of my mother’s house. Gain laundry detergent is great at getting your clothes clean and always leaves your clothes smelling great. A few of Gain’s new products include Gain Fresh Awakenings laundry detergent which is a scent that will quickly wake you up each morning. Then there’s Joyful Expressions which comes in Apple Mango Tango and Gardenia Delight. The Apple Mango Tango is almost addictive, it smells so good. You can also buy Gain with a Touch of Softness laundry detergent that has fabric softener already added and Gain Outdoor Sunshine laundry detergent for white laundry. If you must use an inferior laundry detergent, at least consider getting Gain fabric softener in either liquid or sheet form.

While both Gain and Tide clean your laundry perfectly, I guess I’d still have to pick Gain laundry detergent, specifically the Joyful Expression, Apple Mango Tango. My next choice would have to be Tide with Febreze laundry detergent. My reasons for picking Gain over Tide include the smell of Apple Mango Tango and the price. When Gain goes on sale it’s usually $3.99 or slightly less for a 100 ounce bottle. I’ve never seen Tide cheaper than $4.50 for a 100 ounce bottle and that is very rare. If you rarely find sales on Tide or Gain, go to your local dollar store for a great price. Most of the time, Tide and Gain cost around $5 at places like the Family Dollar and the Dollar General.

A Laundry Tip:

If you have really stubborn stains you don’t always have to resort to using a stain removing product. Simply take some of your laundry detergent of choice and pour it on the stained area and scrub the area with a brush. Usually the stain will come out before you even put the item in the washing machine, if not it will usually come out in the wash after being scrubbed.
