Tightrope Walker

Sometimes I feel like a tightrope walker,
And the tightrope is my walk though life,
I think the balancing bar held so tentatively,
Which can keep me safely on my rope,
Or throw me off balance and down through the dark,
Are the decisions I make everyday.
Some people say life just happens
And I kind of understand what they mean.
The right decision and I get to walk on with balance and grace,
One quick, impulsive and unwise thought,
And I can lose my step and fall off into the depths of infinity.
Yeah, I see the tightrope walker, step-by-step, as progress is made,
And I think, “Please God, let me keep my balance – Just for today!”
