Tips for Parking at Yankee Stadium

Attending a ball game at Yankee Stadium can be quite an enjoyable experience. Parking at the stadium is one of the least things that you want to worry about when going to see the Yankees. Unfortunately, parking at Yankee Stadium has been a constant problem for years. Since most people want to stay until the very end of the game, this is when everybody leaves at once. Of course, this leads to traffic that can have you sitting in your car for hours. The following are some ideas on how to avoid this common problem.

Tip 1#: Leave Early
Parking will be easier if you give yourself plenty of time to get to the stadium prior to the start of the game. If you give yourself at least ninety minutes before the first inning begins, you should be able to park and relax in your seats without any problems.
If it is possible, leave the stadium before the last inning of the game. Although there may be others leaving at this time, the number of people will not even begin to compare to how many people are leaving after the game has finished. Sure, you might miss the last inning of the game, but you can always find a radio station that is broadcasting it. And besides, wouldn’t you rather miss that last inning than sit through hours upon hours of traffic just to get out of the parking lot?

Tip 2#: Use Other Means of Transportation
Take another form of transportation other than your car to get to the game. Leave your vehicle at home and take the train or the subway. If you are from out of state, you will most likely be able to find a train that will be traveling to New York City and then you can hop on the subway to get to Yankee Stadium. Another great way to travel if you live locally is to ride your bike or walk to the game. You can also take the ferry to get to the stadium, which is always a fun way to go.

Tip 3#: Leave Your Car Somewhere Else
If you have any friends or relatives that live relatively close to the stadium, you could always park your car at their house. Also, there are usually parking lots on the outskirts of the stadium. From there, you can walk or ride a bike, to the game.

Tip 4#: Take the Best Route Home
If you are traveling south to get to Third Ave., Triborough Bridge or the Bruckner Expressway, the best route for you to depart from the stadium is the Grand Concourse.
If you are heading northbound, the best route for you to take is the Grand Concourse North to Moshulu Parkway, where you will hang a left onto Sedgwick Ave. into Van Cortland Park South. You will continue down the hill, and make a right onto the Major Deegan North. You can also stay onto Moshulu Parkway North until you hit the Saw Mill River Parkway.

Tip 5#: Park in the Lots Closest to Your Direction
For example, if you are from Westchester or Connecticut, you should use the most northern parking lots available. If you are from Queens, Brooklyn, or Long Island, you should use the most southern lots at the stadium.

If you follow these tips, you will have a much better, stress-free time at the game without the unnecessary worry of traffic and parking.
