Tips on How to Make Your Roadtrip Pleasant While Traveling with Children
Plan Ahead For Your Kids.
Of course you plan out for the actual vacation itself. You book a hotel and buy tickets to theme parks or museums. But planning out the actual transportation to your destination will make for a better travel as well. If you’re going on a roadtrip, pick out some quick sites on the way. Don’t forget to find rest stops, restaraunts, or parks prior to leaving. Kids can get antsy very easily in the car. Stopping in rest areas for about 15 minutes during long road trips will enable kids to run around and use the bathroom. Rest areas are good for adults too. It makes sure that muscles don’t get stiff or cramped from sitting for hours.
If you have the time, you may want to look into some neat sites to see along the way. Whether it be a national park or the world’s biggest yarn ball, it helps keep the vacation atmosphere in tact and allows some time of out of the car.
Remember: Planning ahead means less stress later on.
In Car Entertainment.
Since most of the time of a roadtrip is spent in the car, it’s best to keep kids content during the long ride. Kids are especially prone to entertaining themselves in the wrong way out of sheer boredom. Throwing hissy fits and starting fights with siblings are some of the ways kids can pass the time if they are bored.
One way to keep the kids entertained in the car are creating games or packing along some fun activities to do along the way. You can pack crossword puzzles, Madlibs, coloring books, and more. Giving the children individual activities or games to play amongst themselves gives time to adults as well. If you’re more set on involving the whole family in the fun, try traveling games such as:
-Finding something outside the car for every letter of the alphabet.
-Trying to find as many license plates as possible from different states.
– I Spy. (Picking an object in the car and giving hints to see if other people can guess it.)
Even feel free to create your own!
You can also make a CD or casette of family songs to sing or listen to for the ride.
The Wrap Up:
Planning is the ultimate key to a happy and pleasant trip. Be creative when it comes to planning site seeing or games for the kids or the whole family to play.
