Top 5 Tips to a Hassle Free Move to a New House
They say that moving house is one of the most stressful things that you can do in your lifetime, and after moving 7 times in the last 5 years, including one international move, I can certainly say that’s true. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt about moving after all I’ve experienced, it’s to plan ahead! There’s nothing worse then getting down to the last couple of hours and realizing that you’ve left out an important aspect. Here my 5 top tips of basic moving “must do” that I’ve worked out over the years.
- Always make a check list. Write it well ahead of the move and go over it several times to make sure you haven’t left anything out. Remember to include every little detail, even if at the time of writing it you think you will remember. It will save you time and hassle later on down the track when you’re run off your feet and stressing out.
- Make arrangements well in advance. If you’re booking a removalist or moving company, then call at least a month before the move to make sure that they can fit you in on your chosen move day.
- Have someone look after your pets and children. They will only get under your feet and give you more stress if they are still in the house while you’re packing everything up.
- Buy high quality boxes and packing tape. There’s nothing worse then one or all of your boxes coming open or breaking while in transit. Protect your belongings by packing them securely.
- Get insurance. It will save you money in the long run if something happens to your belongings while in transit.
