Top Digital Cameras Under $300

Digital cameras are a popular item on everyone’s wish list these days. Digital cameras range in price from $20 for small keychain digital cameras to thousands of dollars for digital SLRs. So what if you want something better than the keychain digital camera, but you’re not ready to spend thousands? Here are a few great digital cameras that are all price pointed typically under $300.

All of these digital cameras use secure digital cards to save pictures. With any new digital camera purchase you will want to purchase a memory card of your desired capacity, the included memory card is usually only big enough to hold ten or fifteen pictures at the digital cameras highest resolution. Try and purchase a memory card that is large enough to hold all the pictures you may want to take on a family vacation or trip where your computer will not be.

Canon Powershot SD450

The Powershot SD450 is perhaps my favorite of all of the digital cameras available at this price point. The camera has a five megapixel resolution, which means you can take pictures and print them out almost poster size with a good resolution. If you like to crop your pictures then getting a camera with a high megapixel is a must. Another great feature about this camcorder is its body. The Powershot digital cameras are all made of a stainless-steel rather than a plastic casing like other digital cameras. While the steel won’t necessarily protect your digital camera from harm when you drop it, it seems like you would be much better off dropping your stainless-steel body camera rather than your thin plastic bodied one.

This particular digital camera also comes with several built in shooting modes like portrait, snow, beach and night so you can easily adjust your digital camera for different lighting and shooting conditions.

If you like movies, you can capture short mpeg movies onto your memory card as well as photographs. While the videos may seem slightly pixilated on your television they can be great to send to friends over the internet or to download onto your iPod and show to friends while you are on the go.

Nikon Coolpix L2

The Nikon Coolpix L2 is a great little 6 megapixel digital camera. The camera has a 3x optical zoom and a 4x digital zoom, and uses a high quality Nikon lens. Like the Canon the Nikon has a variety of pre-set shooting modes to help you adjust your camera to different lighting and shooting conditions such as party, fireworks, and museum.

One unique feature of the Nikon L2 is that it has a Best Shot Selector, this tool will allow you to take a quick series of shots and the camera will automatically decide which one is the best and save that one.

Like you standard cameras the Nikon L2 digital camera has a flash and red eye reduction with a red eye reducer built into the camera.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX8K

This digital camera by Panasonic has a 5 megapixel resolution, with a 3x optical and 4x digital zoom. One neat feature of the Panasonic is that it allows you to look at twenty five different thumbnails of your pictures at once on your camera making viewing and organizing your picture a dream.

The Panasonic has several built in photo modes much like the other digital cameras including sports, food, baby and party. This Panasonic digital camera also has a macro mode which makes pictures of small objects close up always clear and in focus.

This Panasonic digital camera is very small and compact in size and is perfect to stick in a purse or pocket when you’re on the go.
