My favorite is the red beans and rice lunch special they oftentimes run, featuring an all-you-can-eat portion of the Louisiana favorite for around $5. Broussard’s is a definite must for out of towners and locals alike. Broussard’s even offers live entertainment as well as drink specials nightly, call ahead to find out what’s in store for the day. The menu is filled with your favorite Cajun recipes, but seafood and regular American hamburgers are also served. It is so authentic; you’ll think that you are dining in the actual French Quarter of New Orleans.

Now for the history lover, Cape Girardeau has one of the oldest standing commercial buildings west of the Mississippi River. Construction abstracts dating back to somewhere before 1836. Former President Ulysses S. Grant commandeered the building when he was stationed there back in 1861. Since 1977, it has been known as Port Cape, one of the most unique and popular restaurants in the area offering barbeque ribs, baked beans, and other fare. Their claim to fame on the menu is their “Bel-Aire potatoes”, a yummy potato dish that is a favorite with patrons.
