Birthday Parties. Planning one can be quite exhaustive not to mention expensive. Invitations, guests, food, entertainment. Finding a good, inexpensive location that can please a whole crowd can be hard.
If you live in lower South East Michigan, have I found the place for you!
Lake Erie Metro Park located in Brownstown, Michigan is it. Their contact number is (734) 379-5020. They offer the “Great Wave”(a wave-action pool), an 18 hole regulation golf course, fishing, play areas for toddlers, basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, boat launches and a marina.
For just a $4 daily vehicle pass, you can bring as many people as your car can hold. Once in the park there are picnic areas located throughout the park. I suggest the area located beyond the Wave Pool. There are trees for shade and grills, to picnic near. All this, enveloped in a panoramic view of Lake Erie.
I recommend bringing hot dogs and hamburgers to grill, along with potato salad, chips, soda, and water. Of course, you can’t forget the birthday cake. While setting up and cooking, all the kiddies can go enjoy the wave pool. Fees are $3.50 for children under 15. Rafts, tubes and life jackets are also available to rent.
For the men in the group who enjoy golfing prices range from $14 to $25 for a 18 hole game and $10 to $16 for a 9 hole game, depending on thier age and the date. Carts (motorized and hand) are available for rent. Ball baskets of 60 and 90 balls are for sale at a low price.
If the children or adults would like to fish, free fishing poles are available for loan. You must have a fishing license, depending on your age. I recommend bringing your own bait.
Toddlers can enjoy the play area with various equipment to enjoy, and older children may bring baskets balls, tennis balls, rackets, or volleyballs if taking advantage of these courts.
A 12-boat ramp offers quick access to the Detroit River and Lake Erie. Metropark Vehicle and Boat Launch permits required. Daily transient dockage also available for boats up to 30 feet in length (phone in advance for availability). Boat launch permits vary in price and marina seasonal dockage prices vary depending on length and time in the marina (daily as opposed to weekly and summer storage.
In addition to all these great options, alcohol is allowed as long as it is not in glass. There is a food court for finger foods and bathrooms located within a 3 minute walk.
I recently held my daughters 13th Birthday there and my total price was $4 entry fee, 18.50 for her and her friends to swim at the wave pool, and the cost of food and charcoal. I even went online and customized the party invitations for free. Pretty good, I thought. Im sure Lake Erie Metro Park is ideal for any type of event, or just to get away for a day.
