Top Ten Songs by Brooks and Dunn

When you hear the words “duo” the first to come to mind has to be Brooks and Dunn. This year alone, Brooks and Dunn are nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Duo of the year, Single of the Year, Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Musical Event for “Building Bridges”. After a career filled with several number one hits and multi-platinum selling albums, Brooks and Dunn have become the country household name. Brooks and Dunn are currently on tour across the US supporting their newest release “Hillbilly Deluxe”. Over this span they have brought us tunes for the working man to the lover in us all. Here is a list of ten songs that have become signature in their own rights.

In August of 1991, Brooks and Dunn released their first in many albums entitled “Brand New Man.” The title track off this album soared up the charts giving Brooks and Dunn the recognition they deserve in the music world. This light-hearted man of men ditties opened the door to the follow up single.

“Boot Scootin’ Boogie” has become Brooks and Dunn’s signature song. This line-dancing gem rocketed to the top of the charts. By the time this album was all said and done by 1995, this release had been certified quintuplet-platinum. Since the release of this song, line-dancing has become popular in the clubs around the country.

Keeping with the blue-collared theme they seem to have made a part of their music choices, Brooks and Dunn released “Hard Working Man”. That too was the title track off the album released in 1993. This song reflects on the man that uses his hands for a living doing the nine to five (and then some) for an honest day’s pay. This song proved to be popular with the country music fans.

The next release off “Hard Working Man” moves to a different side of the duo’s musical expertise: women. The song is like a modern day Cinderella story. “Rock My World (little country girl)” took the duo to another place in their career. This album reached quadruple-platinum keeping pace with their first album.

The fall of 1994 brought out yet another Brooks and Dunn masterpiece entitled “Waiting on Sundown.” Sticking to that women theme, Brooks and Dunn released “Little Miss Honkytonk”. That title says it all. Back to the dance-stepping toe-tapping mix they are sure club music favorites.

On this release, Kix Brooks gives his lead-singing roll in “You’re Gonna Miss Me When I’m Gone”. Ronnie Dunn usually graces us with his deep but well-ranged voice we have come to know with Brooks and Dunn music. But this song is Kix’s chance to show his talents as the duo’s other half.

After a year that came and went without a Brooks and Dunn album, the rocking country duo shows off the vocal talent and range of Ronnie Dunn. “Borderline” featured a simple song with a true test to Ronnie’s singing capabilities with “My Maria”.

Jumping ahead to 1999, Brooks and Dunn released “Tightrope.” On this album, Brooks and Dunn went back to the blue-collar man and released “Beer Thirty,” a working-man’s anthem and yet again another club hit.

Brooks and Dunn’s 2003 release “Red Dirt Road” tried to achieve them the status of “bad boys of country.” They released the single off of it entitled “You Can’t Take The Honkytonk Out of the Girl.” It is a song about a bad girl, a good girl and interfering mothers.

For the current release “Hillbilly Deluxe,” Brooks and Dunn went that extra mile with what has to be the best single song of their career to date with this heart-felt well-written piece of material. Ronnie puts his heart and soul in to this song from start to finish. If you aren’t touched by this song by its end, you need to listen again. “Believe” will become yet another signature song for the duo as they continue to rack up nominations and countless awards. This duo has proven to have staying power in this industry and will probably be entertaining us for years to come.
