1) The Rose – 1983 – The Rose is my all time favorite Conway Twitty song. It is a very beautiful song. It is my number one choice on my Top Ten Songs by Conway Twitty list. Bette Midler first recorded the song in 1979 and in 1983 Conway Twitty recorded his version. The Rose is a very touching song. It was a friend of mine’s favorite song and when he died unexpectedly his sister sung it at his funeral, giving it even more meaning to me.
Conway Twitty had one of the most sensual voices in country music. His music is loved by millions. Conway Twitty suddenly died from an abdominal aneurysm in the summer of 1993. Immediately following his death, he was praised and mourned from all quarters of the public, not just country music fans, and his record of over 40 number one hits remains intact unlikely to be surpassed.
