Top Three Kid-Friendly Restaurants in Temecula

Temecula, California is a community with restaurants on just about every corner. Finding a restaurant that caters to families with small children isn’t difficult in this city known for its family appeal. The top three choices for dining out with the kids in Temecula share several things in common. First, all three are relatively inexpensive, each delivers the food in a timely manner, each has a walk up style ordering system and good food.

Billy B’s Burgers is located on Jefferson Road just north of Winchester Road and is known for its chiliburgers. This burger joint gets its kid-friendly points for having a toy area with a toy box full of toys. One table is located off to itself directly next to the toy area. Families that get this table can let their kids play while they wait for their food. For others, kids can pick out a toy or two and take them back to their tables elsewhere in the restaurant.

The menu at Billy B’s is extensive offering sandwiches, burgers and Mexican food. The interior is fairly plain offering booths for seating and TVs tuned to cable news networks. Food is ordered at the walk up counter and delivered directly to the table. Customers are encouraged to bus their own tables by removing their baskets, plates and trash when finished.

Chuy’s Mesquite Broiler is another of the best kid-friendly restaurants Temecula has to offer. The atmosphere is fun with its funky artwork and silly Baja style items hung from every possible corner, nook and cranny. Kids get a kick out of the dÃ?©cor and have an area with a few video games and bubblegum machines that they can entertain themselves with while they wait for the food.

The kids’ meals vary from mini corn dogs to chicken strips to nachos and burritos. Adults have a full range of choices including tri-trip, mesquite broiled chicken and Baja styled fare. A sports bar at heart, Chuy’s is popular during football season and offers a well stocked bar, beers and margaritas. Patio seating with thatched umbrella’s makes for a typical Southern California outdoor dining experience.

Food is ordered at the counter. Rather than being given a number, Chuy’s customers are handed a colorful stuffed animal such as a lobster to take to the table. Servers promptly bring the food to the appropriate stuffed animal when it’s ready. Their friendly staff comes by periodically to make sure the customers have everything they need and to clear the tables.

The very best of the kid-friendly restaurants in Temecula has got to be Rosa’s CafÃ?© and Tortilla factory with its good food, low prices and great atmosphere. Kids love to watch the tortilla machine as it cranks out homemade tortillas. Of the three top kid-friendly restaurants in Temecula, the atmosphere at Rosa’s is the best. It looks more upscale than the others but the final bill is generally the lowest of the bunch. Their kid’s meals cost about $3 complete with an entrÃ?©e, beans or rice, a drink and a toy. Most combinations run about $5. Top of the meals with a basket of sopapillas for about $2 more and a family of four can eat out for between $20-$25 including drinks and a modest tip for the bus staff.

Since all of these kid-friendly restaurants share the walk up ordering system, none expect large tips which definitely help the family on a budget. A modest tip for those who clear the tables is appreciated. Both Rosa’s and Billy B’s have drive up windows for take out. Chuy’s also offers take out but the customer must come in and pick it up.
