Train Journey Through Mexico

Have you ever thought of visiting Mexico? How would you like to take a journey across Mexico from El Paso, Texas to Mexico City, Mexico? This fantastic journey through Mexico begins on day one in El Paso, Texas where passengers will board the train. On the train, passengers will enjoy a Welcome Aboard Dinner followed by their first night riding the rail. During this night, the train will travel from El Paso to Chihuahua.

Day two is spent in Chihuahua where passengers can enjoy an excursion through historical Chihuahua, including touring Pancho Villa’s Museum, the Cathedral and the Quinta Gameros, which is an Art Noveau Mansion, before returning to the train for lunch. The journey then continues toward Copper Canyon.

Day three finds the train and its passengers in Copper Canyon. Here passengers can enjoy a morning of taking in the beautiful views from the rim of the canyon or they can be more adventurous and take a hike or even enjoy Tarahumara Indian performances and crafts. In the afternoon, passengers can take a tram ride down the canyon before returning to the train. The train adventure continues toward Mazatlan crossing some 37 bridges and 86 tunnels.

On day four, the train and its passengers will be enjoying Mazatlan and the Pacific Coast. Passengers have the opportunity to choose from 3 day-long excursions. The first excursion travels to the historic center of Mazatlan, the beautiful countryside, a historic hacienda and an authentic Mexican village. The second excursion includes traveling to the islands off the coast as well as a well-maintained wildlife preserve. The third excursion to choose from is to spend time golfing or relaxing at a beachside resort. All meals are served aboard the train.

Guadalajara, Tlaquepaque and Tequila are the destinations for day 5 on this Mexican journey. The train stops in Guadalajara where passengers can enjoy one of two excursions. The first excursion takes place in Guadalajara where passengers can tour Plaza Tapitia. Here they can visit the Opera House, the Government Palace and the Cathedral before traveling to Tlaquepaque for lunch and shopping. The second excursion is aboard a motor coach to two Tequila distilleries in the town of Tequila. After touring the Tequila distilleries, the passengers will return to Guadalajara where they can visit the Historic Center before returning to the train.

Passengers will enjoy exploring San Miguel de Allende on day 6. Begin the day with breakfast on the train then take a motor coach ride to San Miguel de Allende. While here passengers can explore the city, the Plaza, the Parroquia, the Institution Allende, then visit art galleries in the afternoon or just spend time taking in the sights and sounds of the city before returning to the train in time for dinner.

The train travels on from San Miguel de Allende to Teotihuacan where passengers will awake on day 7. Breakfast can be enjoyed on the train then passengers can take the motor coach to the ruins. While here, be sure to check out the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon. After touring the ruins, passengers will ride the motor coach to a luxury motel in Mexico City, where they will spend the night.

Day 8 is spent touring the oldest city in North America: Mexico City. Highlights of this day include Diego Rivera’s Murals depicting Mexican history beginning in ancient times, exploring the Cathedral or the Aztec ruins at the Temple Mayor and visiting the Museum of Anthropology. After exploring Mexico City, passengers gather at a restaurant for their farewell dinner, and then back to the hotel.

Day 9 is when the journey ends. Passengers have the opportunity of returning home or spending more time on their own in Mexico City.
