Trustline: A Security Net for Your Children When With a Nanny

Trustline, perhaps you’ve heard the name before. If you live in the California area and have a private childcare provider it is crucial that you have. This particular name plays an important role in both the safety and legality of your childcare provider.
Trustline is run by the state of California’s Health and Human Services, a direct department of Social Services. Each and every licence exempt childcare provider, such as a nanny, is required to register with this agency. As stated by Health and Human Services, It allows “parents, employment agencies, and childcare referral agencies to contact the California childcare resource and referral network to verify that you (applicant) are listed as a cleared provider on the Trustline registry.” It gives parents the added security of having background checks for screening, as well as additional information in case of an emergency. The goal is to make parents feel more comfortable with their childcare provider and keep the children as safe as possible.

Childcare providers registered with Trustline are required to fill out an application consisting of personal information as well as finger prints to be put on file. These prints must be done by a local law enforcement agency and on official records paper. Once these two requirements are filled, all applicants are screened, and once they have been accepted they are given a personal identification number by which they can be screened with. This number can be given to employers or referral agencies to run a check on the applicant. The application process itself is simple, but can take up to four weeks to be fully processed.
