Tunturi C80 Elliptical

I became interested in living a healthier lifestyle since the beginning of the year. This was not a New Year’s Resolution, but something I have wanted to improve about myself for a while. So I began using my old elliptical. Sadly, it was not fit for the level of use I wanted to achieve, and it broke. I quickly found myself in the market for a new elliptical.

I chose the Tunturi C80. like ellipticals because they provide a total body cardio workout, they are easy on your joints, and they burn an enormous number of calories in a short time. The Tunturi, like all ellipticals, lives up to these benefits. But where it truly stands out is that it can handle a vigorous workout. My old machine began leaving metal shavings on the floor beneath it, and stained the carpet. Also, a wheel that guides the step broke. The machine began getting louder and louder, and it could be heard throughout the whole house. The Tunturi C80 is designed for light commercial use, and the salesman said that it could withstand four hours use a day throughout the next fifteen to twenty years. It was not just a sales pitch either. The same store places its equipment in various gyms throughout the city. They have seen firsthand what the machine can withstand.

The Tunturi C80 is a large piece of equipment. But it is a solid one. The frame is approximately 17.5″ around. The machine offers electromagnetic braking, which makes it difficult to stop quickly, but it also means that there are fewer parts to break. There are two sets of handles. One is stationary and one moves with each step. By holding the moving ones you can work on your upper body at the same time. The stationary ones allow you to gain your balance or just rest your arms.

There are several different programs available, and each one is easy to enter. You push the program button, and it will ask you how long you want to workout. You enter the amount of time and push enter. Then it asks you for your weight. One of the best features about this is that the machine comes with a Polar heart rate monitor. These are handy pieces of technology. You place a wireless strap that is completely separated from the machine around your chest, and it wirelessly transmits your heart rate to the elliptical. The elliptical then automatically adjusts its difficulty setting based on the program you are using, your weight, and your heart rate. This provides a truly customized cardio workout for each user. The elliptical has a very long stride length. This is essential for those users who are very tall. I wanted to find something that my husband could use, since he is a very tall man. This fit the bill perfectly.

Some users may be turned off by the cost. This is definitely a concern, because the machine runs between $1500 and $2000. But there are two things to consider before you go for a less expensive machine. First, my old elliptical could not handle one hour a day, broke after about two years of use, and cost $400. For ellipticals, this is considered very cheap. If I had to replace it once every two years, in the fifteen years this machine will last, I will have spent $3000, and I would not have been able to use it as long each day. So it is obviously a better value. Second, the store where I got it had a deferred rebate program where I receive a rebate after three years. You will need to check locally to find something like this, but I have seen it at several different stores. So, as long as I follow the terms of the rebate, the Tunturi C80 elliptical is free after three years.

I have never been more pleased with a purchase. This machine is providing me with an excellent cardio program, and I enjoy using it. In the long run, it could help me live longer. Obviously, there is no greater gift than that. And on the off-chance that nothing else I have said has convinced you, think about this. I have lost over 20 lbs, and I am still losing. I have lost over 4 inches in my waist, and 7 in my hips. This alone makes it worth every penny.
