Update Your Bedroom for Under $100
The first thing anyone should do when redecorating or updating any room is to ask whether the existing furnishings are in the best place. Sometimes reorganizing the furniture can really make a room seem different. It can make a bedroom seem more airy and spacious or more cozy and intimate. Sketch out a few options on paper and move things around for a makeover that will cost nothing but a little time.
You’ve heard it a thousand times before, but paint is still the best way to change the feel of the room. For bedrooms, I prefer soothing colors, but not your standard white. Light blues, greens, or other pastels are often soothing. If you are looking for something more masculine or darker, a great chocolate brown has calming effects. Regardless of the color you choose make sure that it isn’t so bold that it may keep you awake if you keep a night light on! I also like faux finishes in a bedroom where softer bedside lamp light or candles will really accentuate its beauty.
Naturally, the focal point of any bedroom is the bed. Therefore, changing the bedding definitely can set the ton for the entire room. Shop clearance racks of home design stores to get the best deals on high-quality bedding or you can break out the sewing machine and make some yourself. Be sure that whatever bedding you choose it compliments the rest of the room’s dÃ?©cor. Matching shams, accent pillows, and a bed skirt can complete your ensemble.
Accessories are the cheapest way to update a bedroom. New table lamps or shades are great for your night stand. Candles, a new corner chair, or anything that fits your room’s theme will pull the room together and make it complete. Especially shop flea markets and thrift stores to find antiques at affordable prices. You will be amazed at the deals that you can find if you spend the extra time.
