Vacuum Cleaner Belts and Performances
The belts for your vacuum are very important. You will need to make sure you have the right type of belt for your vacuum. The correct belt helps insure the durability and performance of the working system of your vacuum for your carpets to be cleaned.
Vacuum Cleaner Suction Components
The suction of your vacuum is another very important part of the machine. The suction of the vacuum is what will pull the dirt from the carpet into the holding area of the vacuum. The airflow for the suction of your vacuum is the key for cleaning hard surfaces or for the use of the attachments of the vacuum cleaner.
When there isn’t suction from your vacuum, it will only bring more dirt to the surface of the area being cleaned. The agitation part of the vacuum is actually what does the cleaning more so than the suction. Seventy percent of the cleaning ability of the vacuum cleaner comes from the proper use of the agitation mechanism.
Vacuum Cleaner Brush Rollers
Quite a few of the manufacturers of vacuum cleaners use brush rollers made of plastic, metal or wood driven by a motor from the use of the three different styles of belts.
Round Belts for Vacuum Cleaners
Round belts for vacuum cleaners are the earliest style of belts produced because they were the easiest to engineer. Unfortunately, the round belts are placed in the same area as the dirt that is vacuumed. Almost all the dirt, hair, staples, and any other debris that pass by the belt will nick, cut or scratch it as it passes through.
The belts have to stretch a long way which places even more stress on the motor bearings and the roller. The round style belts are the most common and are still being used by many manufacturers.
Flat Style Belts for Vacuum Cleaners
The flat belt most often runs in a circular fashion unlike the twisted route of the round belt it takes to deliver the proper direction of the roller brush.
The flat belts are run off to one side of the roller brush rather than down the middle where the dirt most often comes into contact with the roller brush agitator. Since the belts are added to the machine in this fashion, the belts will not have a premature failure due to dirt and soil that enters the agitation area of the vacuum.
As the flat style belts become warm, they will stretch and lose tension. With every use of the vacuum, the belts will stretch. The belts will also lose their tension once you have put it away when you are finished with the vacuum cleaner.
Geared Style Belts for Vacuum Cleaners
The latest in belt designs is considered to be the best one yet in the industry as far as vacuum cleaners are concerned. The latest belt design is the geared belt. The geared belt has many variations and is the most efficient style to date to drive the brush roller. The geared belt is also known as a positive brush system. This is due to the energy of the brush roller motor is sent straight to the brush.
Some cogged belts without tension are what locks the brush and motor together with fixed teeth. With this setup, there is a higher cleaning efficiency due to the fact the brush can be driven at a faster speed no matter the age of the gear belt.
The cost of the vacuum that has geared belts is the biggest drawback. There are two motors on a vacuum that uses geared belts. There are separate motors for the suction and brush roller and requires an electronic sensory system which will tell you when there is something wrong with the roller brush. The latest in belt designs is considered to be the best one yet in the industry as far as vacuum cleaners are concerned.
