VillaWare V5225 Crepe Maker

My husband loves crepes so when he gave me the VillaWare V5225 Crepe Maker, I got the hint and started learning how to make them. I tried once or twice to make crepes using a skillet and the results weren’t too good. I was hoping I’d have a better experience with the VillaWare V5225 Crepe Maker and for the most part, I wasn’t disappointed. Unfortunately though, there are a few product flaws.

The good: First, for the relatively cheap price of $30.00, the VillaWare V5225 Crepe Maker really makes good crepes. It took me a little longer than most to get the hang of it (I am not a wizard in the kitchen) but after a few tries, my crepes were turning out quite nicely. My husband has not complained (and he is quite finicky) so I am sure that I am doing something right.

Second, a chef friend of mine who makes great crepes using a pan tried it and admitted that she makes better crepes using this machine. Now, I’ve tried her crepes and they are really good so I value her opinion. If she vouches for the VillaWare V5225 Crepe Maker, that would be good enough for me.

Third, the VillaWare V5225 Crepe Maker is a nice addition to my kitchen counter because it looks good. It isn’t bulky and it doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb. I like giving guests a tour around my kitchen and I like it when nice additions such as this machine make me look more than a weekend chef.

The bad: First, I have to agree with a lot of reviewers. The Teflon covering of the VillaWare V5225 Crepe Maker does rub off. After a few tries, some of the black has started to come out. This bothers me a bit but I have to remind myself that it isn’t an expensive machine

Second, clean up isn’t too easy. Maybe this isn’t the VillaWare V5225 Crepe Maker’s fault. After all, anything associated with batter almost always means a mess in the kitchen. Still, it is a pain to clean between the handles and the plate.

Third, what’s with the cord? I don’t know if this is a result of poor product design but the cord keeps getting entangled while I am cooking. I think the cord is way too short. Next time, VillaWare V5225 Crepe Maker manufacturers should make the electric cord longer.

Over-all, I would recommend the VillaWare V5225 Crepe Maker to anyone who wants to find an easy way to make crepes. It isn’t a perfect machine but it isn’t an expensive one. If, however, you have money to burn, then maybe you should consider trading up.
