Vintage Hills in Temecula, a Wine Country Neighborhood

The charming and highly sought after neighborhood of Vintage Hills is located right on the boundary of Temecula city limits and Temecula wine country. Homes were built in the early to mid 1990’s, so Vintage Hills is still relatively new but has the added charm of more mature landscaping and trees. Vintage Hills gets its name from its proximity to Temecula’s wine country and lovely rolling hills.

Comprised of over 600 homes, Vintage Hills boasts two community pools, several tot lots, a large park and baseball diamond, tennis courts, a basketball court and a large clubhouse. Residents of Vintage Hills have access to these facilities for a monthly homeowner’s association fee of $70 per month.

Each month, Vintage Hills puts out a newsletter for residents loaded with activities such as water aerobics, senior coffee dates, dog obedience training, crafts for kids and more. In addition, each year the Vintage Hills Homeowner’s Association also offers a full slate of larger parties and activities including an Easter Egg hunt, a Fourth of July Barbeque with viewing of fireworks from the nearby Sports Park, a community garage sale, and the ever popular Winter Wonderland complete with horse drawn trolleys to tour the neighborhood light display.

Vintage Hills Elementary School is centrally located in the neighborhood and has earned the honor of being one of California’s Distinguished Schools. Vintage Hills Elementary School is consistently highly rated and well loved by students, teachers and parents alike. Cars around the neighborhood proudly display their Vintage Hills Husky license plate frames and bumper stickers.

People tend to settle in and stay once they’ve moved to Vintage Hills. When a house does come on the market, it doesn’t stay on long. Home prices range from about $400,000 to $700,000. Vintage Hills was built by numerous home builders so the variety of homes within the neighborhood is plentiful, offering a home style for any size family.

With Thornton Winery, the entrance to Temecula Wine Country, located just across the street from the eastern boundary of Vintage Hills, wine tasting is literally in Vintage Hills’ backyard. Calloway Winery, Maurice Carrie Winery, Baily Winery, Hart Winery and Mt. Palomar Winery are just a few of the many wineries nearby. While it’s fun to tour the wine country and its award winning wineries, savvy Vintage Hills residents know that the nearby Longs Drugstore on the corner of Margarita and Rancho California Roads is the best, and least expensive, source for actually purchasing Temecula wines.

Vintage Hills residents with gourmet tastes can head to wine country for their gourmet restaurants, spas and jazz concerts. For those just wanting a quick bite, they can turn left and find a variety of fast food and casual dining restaurants.

Vintage Hills has several major shopping centers nearby as well as a post office, the Temeku Golf Course, Temecula Valley High School, a fire station, churches, the Ronald Reagan Sports Park, and a new library. Located off of Rancho California road, Vintage Hills is easily accessible from either the Highway 79 South off ramp or the more desirable Rancho California Road exit of Interstate 15.

Vintage Hills enjoys the amenities the city of Temecula offers but is only blocks away from the rural, rolling hills of Temecula wine country. Just a short drive or bike ride gives way to grand views and open spaces. Lake Skinner is just minutes away for an afternoon of picnicking, boating, camping or fishing. The area is well known for hot air balloons and hosts the annual Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival.

Vintage Hills residents have grown accustomed to hot air balloons gracing their views in the early morning hours. In fact, hot air balloons have even landed in the streets of Vintage Hills. Tradition dictates that the balloonists must share their champagne when they land on someone’s property. Living in the wine country and in Vintage Hills has its privileges.
