Volleyball Pro Gabrielle Reece Adds Golf, Broadcasting, and Modeling to Her Biography

Decorated volleyball pro Gabrielle Reece was born on January 6, 1970 in La Jolla, California. She was raised by family friends and is known as Gabby Reece to those closest to her.

In high school, Gabrielle Reece played basketball and volleyball. She went on to play on a volleyball scholarship for Florida State University, where she majored in Communications. During her time at FSU, Gabrielle Reece led the NCAA records in kills and blocks.

While in college, Gabrielle Reece began modeling with Ford Modeling Agency and later with Elite Modeling Agency – eventually earning up to $10,000 per a day. Gabrielle Reece has appeared in Shape, Women’s Sports & Fitness, Elle, Life, and Bazaar. In November 2001, Playboy featured the 6-foot-3-inch bombshell.

In 1993, Gabrielle Reece became Nike’s first cross-training spokeswoman. She starred in television commercials alongside baseball great Bo Jackson. Also in 1993, Gabrielle Reece joined the four-person Bud Light Pro Beach Volleyball League. She led the team in blocks their first season and kills for four seasons.

In 1994, Nike named Gabrielle Reece captain of Team Nike. She was later named the League’s Offensive Player of the Year in 1994 and 1995.

Gabrielle Reece’s broadcasting career took of in 1993 when she began hosting MTV Sports. The gig lasted till 1996. Gabrielle Reece currently writes articles for Women’s Sports & Fitness and reports for USA Sports.

Gabrielle Reece holds seven Olympic medals.
