Waltham Summer Music Series: A Perfect Summer Night
This concert series is what makes a Tuesday night in July a thousand times better than a Tuesday night in December. Join 200 other community members on the Waltham Common to enjoy fresh air and music provided by the Waltham Council for the Arts. Each week the council supplies a new performer for the series. Jazz, classical, oldies, big-band, they cover all the bases.
Highlights
1. It’s free.
2. Come and go as you please. You can show up late, leave early and stay late if you’d like.
3. People watching. It’s a fun crowd comprised of all ages. Some dancing and some just enjoying the music.
4. The common is about 100 yards from the Charles River and Moody Street. If you are walking, there are plenty of things to see and do within walking distance.
5. Music. It’s good music and the performers are always crowd-pleasers.
6. Very kid friendly. It’s open and loud. Kids can dance, sing and easily find others to frolic with.
Advice
1. Walk if you can. There might be a miniature traffic jam right after the show.
2. Bring a chair. There is no seating. If you don’t want sit on the grass, you’ll need to supply your own creature comforts.
3. Be prepared to dance. When some of the bands play, dancing is appropriate and even recommended.

5. Bring a drink. It can be hot and when the urge to dance takes hold, you could find yourself a thirsty reveler.
