Wedding Locations in Aiken, South Carolina

A typical Southern wedding begins with rounds of showers and parties for the soon to be hitched and then there is the rehearsal, the rehearsal dinner, and finally the long walk down the flower strewn aisle in a candle lit…wooded area?

Yes! Times have changed and while church weddings are still the norm, alternatives abound and here is a list of three venues to choose from in Aiken, South Carolina, a quaint winter colony town:

1. Hopeland Gardens is a favored venue because of it’s beauty and because it has everything needed for a wedding in one area. Gardens with statues and reflecting pools with walkways leading from one natureland to the next. Small lakes with fountains and its’ tenents, the ducks and the assorted fishes. Next to one of the fish ponds is an ampitheatre that can be used for a wedding. It is especially nice when the roses covering the overhead lattice is in bloom.

There is an older house next to Hopeland Gardens called Rye Patch that is used for receptions and it has ample room for sit down dining, a band and dancing, a kitchen for the caterer, patios for outdoor dining. The upstairs rooms can be used for the bridal preparation room. The phone number to call for information is 1-803-642-7630 and the address is, 100 Berrie Road, Aiken, South Carolina 29801.

2.Wisteria Manor is another older Aiken colony mansion dating from the 1870’s that is rented for weddings and receptions. They also do their own catering and set ups for the events. Prices and pictures can be seen on their website at www.wisteriamanor.com . Or call for more information at 1-803-648-0734. They are located at, 1210 Whiskey Road, Aiken, South Carolina.

The house has a lovely sun porch with leaded glass windows overlooking the rear and side grounds and is a nice area to set up for dining and for the cake table. The grand room has a high ceiling, a fireplace, and a piano and is a fine place for setting up for the nuptials.

To the left of the foyer is a room used as a convenient gift room with tables and chairs to display the generosity of their guests.
Also, the foyer is a handy place to set up a table with the guest sign in book and wedding favors.

Upstairs is the bridal room with a restroom for preparations and roomy enough for bridesmaids and family to come up pre-nuptial to ooh and ahh over the bride.

3.Last but not least is the Victorian Wedding Chapel and Reception House. The House and Chapel are built and decorated in the Victorian Style and there is a gazebo next to the chapel for outdoor weddings. There is a beautiful painting of the chapel and gazebo on their website at www.victorianchapel.com in addition to plenty of information on their prices including package pricing.

There are pictures on the website showing different cake options and dining options, buffet or finger foods. They also have an in house wedding consultant who happens to be the ministers’ wife and is well qualified.

The surrounding grounds are well landscaped and well kept. There is a brick walkway/aisle to the gazebo allowing for white chairs on either side. The chapel has upholstered seating and the exterior has gingerbreading that matches the exterior of the house. A pretty place to day, “I Do”.

They are located at, 443 Laurens St. NW, Aiken, South Carolina 29801. They have a toll free number as well as a local number and they are: 1-866-203-1193 and locally 1-803-641-2345.
