Wedding Venues in New Castle, Delaware

The churches and historical buildings in this quaint town lend a welcoming atmosphere for a wedding. The centuries old architectural mix in this quaint little town makes an ideal setting for an indoor or outdoor wedding.

New Castle, Delaware is just south of Wilmington, Delaware, on the Delaware River. The historic town was established in 1651. New Castle is one of the best kept secrets and a colonial gem with origins prior to the American Revolution.
The original colonial, Dutch, and Federal architecture has been preserved for centuries. The homes, shops, taverns, and bed and breakfasts were built in the 1700s and earlier. William Penn first stepped on American soil in New Castle in 1682.

Churches

The churches in Olde New Castle are nestled along old brick walkways that have been raised by the tree roots. All of the churches are located within walking distance of Battery Park and the New Castle waterfront. Massive trees fill the town green. Refreshing gentle breezes dance over this small town in the spring and summer and rustle and stir the leaves in the fall.

Immanuel Episcopal Church on the Green is a beautiful setting for a wedding. The original church was built in 1703 and reconstructed using the original walls and foundation after a fire in 1980. The Immanuel Episcopal Church is on a cobblestone road in the historic section of New Castle. The past meets the present here in one of the oldest parishes in the United States. Anglicans have been worshipping on the spot where it now stands for over 300 years.

The Presbyterian Church was founded as a Dutch reformed church in 1657. It was restored to its original appearance after World War II.

The New Castle United Methodist Church origins date back to a small brick chapel that was erected on the site in 1820. The present church was built in 1863.

Bed and Breakfasts

The Terry House Bed and Breakfast gardens adjoin Battery Park on the Delaware River. The rooms offer a view of Battery Park, Market Square, the Court House, and the Delaware River.

The Armitage Inn Bed and Breakfast was built in 1732. This B&B overlooks Battery Park and the Delaware River.

The William Penn Guest House is a beautifully restored 1682 guest house.
