Weddings in San Diego: Where to Go
Mission Bay: Quintessential southern California scenery: Palm trees, boats of every kind, slate blue waters and green, almost too-green grass. Very upper crest, Malibu-type of feeling. Dana Inn is the closest your wedding can be by the bay without actually being in the water. It offers views of the bay from the inn, which is a good thing because it provides the guests with something to look at.
Rancho Bernardo Inn: This place is a golf and spa resort. While that doesn’t sound very appealing, the place is pretty. The grounds are breathtaking. So much so, that the inn usually handles a lot of weddings since the place is so exquisite. There are a lot of fountains and benches with a lot of plants and trees that give a calming and serene aura to the place. While the layout is very huge and expansive, there are romantic and private spots set aside for a ceremony.
Balboa Park: Oooh my favorite. This place is gorgeous. I always feel like I’m in Europe whenever I walk around Balboa Park. The huge, looming buildings are all of Spanish architecture-truly exquisite. There’s a huge bell that tolls every hour or so. Even the ground is tiled in some areas and there are fountains throughout and flocks of birds that come to feed what is thrown on the ground. The whole feel of the place is romantic, grandiose, and beautiful in a traditional, old-fashioned sense. Balboa has a special place that they use especially for weddings called The Prado. The ceremony site is very private, full of plush, green foliage and they have ballrooms and/or a courtyard for the reception.
There are many, many more but these are the basics. San Diego is an amazing place to get married no matter who you are or what you like.
