Welcome to Old Bridge, New Jersey

As long as I have lived in Old Bridge (all twenty-six years of my life) I have never been at a loss for something to do. As the years go by, I notice that the town has been building itself up and making it even easier for families to decide to move here. Of course , there are many positive points about my hometown, but I would like to share with you why I love Old Bridge, as someone who has been through all of the ups and downs of the town.

Old Bridge, New Jersey is the kind of place you’d be happy to raise your kids. The schools keep getting better and better, and just recently, a new, larger campus was constructed for the high school (after years of the structure of the high school being in an uncertain limbo). Now, there are two buildings in town connected on one campus for all of the almost 3,000 students to live out their high school dreams. The sports teams are accomplished, as are the non-sports clubs. The marching band has won a number of awards over the years, the school plays almost always sell out, and the test scores of the students are up there as well. The number of Old Bridge High School students in the National Honor Society grows every year, and that is not including those inducted into Honor Societies for certain foriegn language accomplishments, like French, Italian and Spanish.

Aside from all of the things that can be said about the school system, Old Bridge also has many other resources that are formidable and attractive to those researching the town. For one, the public library is a huge structure in the town’s Civic Center (which also includes the police station and courthouse, tennis courts, an ice skating rink and a community center for children’s parties and the like). The library itself holds programs for adults and children all the time, such as book clubs and storytelling fo the kids, and I have never had a problem finding a book that I needed. There is also the Old Bridge Theater Guild, which puts on productions twice a year for anyone who would like to audition, and a little further away from the center of town is Raceway Park, which lends itself to events all year round, such as car races and concerts.

Many areas of the town has seen vast improvement over the years, with more building and less abandoned areas. Where the old, abandoned apple factory used to sit is now a small, modest shopping center with an Eckerd, a bar, a store to purchase hockey supplies (very convenient and across from the ice skating rink) and a convenience store. There is night life in Old Bridge for all ages in the forms of bars, live bands and clubs, and really, anywhere that you want to go isn’t that far away. Aside from our own Cheesequake State Park (which has a lake with a sandy beach and many mountain trails and beautiful views) and Laurence Harbor, it is no more than a half an hour drive to get to the beach and only an hour train ride into New York City.

Really, in Old Bridge, we have it all. So come and check it out! You can get there by Route 18 South, Route 9, Route 34, or even the Parkway. If I had to choose a town to grow up in, I probably still would have chosen this one.
