What is the Best Paint for the Interior and Exterior of a Home

When selecting house paint, homeowners consider things like durability of the paint, paint resistance to mold and mildew, color availability among others. It is important to note that all paint come in either oil or latex.

#Latex Paint

NOTE; latex paint is not the most preferred paint in the U.S because many people are allergic to Latex. However, pros of Latex paint claim that latex paint is durable and easy to clean up. They say that latex paint is fade resistant compared to oil based paint.

On the one hand, pros for oil paint claim that oil paint is great for wood moldings. They claim that when oil based paint is applied, it seals wood stains and knots compared to latex paint. However, cons note that oil paint take longer to dry than latex paint. From my personal account, my painter used oil shellac primer to trim and then he applied latex paint as the topcoat. Gloss paint and Sheen paint

1. Gloss paint is the paint used for shininess coating

2. Sheen paint is also paint used for shininess coating, but glossy when viewed from a low angle.

3. Flat paint is the paint used or applied to hide small imperfections. However, it is not washable and reduces light glares. Flat paint is used in theater rooms and ceilings. In addition, Flat paint come in Velvet flat or pearl flat. These can also be used to reduce light glare. Velvet flat and pearl flat paint can be used in living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms.

4. Satin Paint. This paint is washable and reflects light. Satin Paint is used in kitchens nooks, laundry rooms and kid rooms.

5. Eggshell paint. Many painters use Eggshell paint between satin and semi-gloss. Eggshell is washable and reflects light. My painter applied eggshell paint in one of my bathroom.

6. Semi-Gloss Paint is washable and reflects light. Semi-Gloss paint is used in Kitchens, Bathrooms, Trim Work, Doors, Cabinets and Furniture
